Earth day affecting device theme?

The darkening on my device theme lead me to search and find out that, yes, today is Earth day.
Happy Earth day everyone! Perhaps that's why my theme is dark instead of white like usual. Interesting touch added, Google!

i was able to found out when unlocking my phone, the Google bar at the bottom has an animations of earth that pops up...cool, never saw that before.

Google: We're going to celebrate Earth Day by annoying our customers.

I wasn't planning to buy one of their phones to begin with, but companies doing stuff like this is one of my pet peeves.

Now that I think of it, it is kind of annoying that they can change any setting on anyone's phone at any time.

To be fair, I'm not against showing support of something, only the manner in how they did it. And it may not have been a remote access that triggered it. Anything can be set to a timed trigger, so that could've been pre-programmed into their OS build long before you even got the phone.
