ECG symbol

Just a quick one, I keep getting a symbol that appears on my lock screen that looks like a little ECG monitor, anyone know what it is? It happens quite few times a day.

No words associated with it or notifications that correspond to it?

Think it maybe showing an app running in the background. Sometimes this pops up in the status bar. I believe it's new in Oreo.

I can't find anything about it in Google. if I try to unlock the phone it disappears so can't find anything associated with it. it's weird.

Ok closest thing I have to what I think you're describing is the one for when stocks I'm following go up or down.

I've seen that associated with a notification that my GMail app is syncing in the background and using more power than expected, as indicated by @weepatc

It happens quite few times a day.

It's odd that it doesn't appear all the time: there's always one on my Lock Screen (couldn't capture a screenshot), and it's always shown in the Status bar and expands in the Notification shade (x apps are using battery).

that is the symbol yes, now it makes more sense. cheers guys, I think a mystery has been solved.
