It only comes on briefly....is it possible you are missing it?

The phone has to be face down

Make sure under the system notification settings that it's set to "Sound and Popup"

Owh seriously?doesnt it work only when screen is facing the table for example?

It used too yes! Now when phones off the whole screen lights up around the edge but doesn't stay on that long. You have to configure it in the Edge settings. I have mine set to do that.

Just a thought, you might increase the width of the lighting edge. If your device is in a case, it could be concealing the light.

That remedied the problem on my s9+.

I can easily see the lighting when I get a phone call so I do not think that is the problem.

Mines just works when it feels like. I have all the necessary settings turned on but I never seen it work while the phone was off even though I have it set to always work when phone on/off.

Mine has been working fine but I use Facebook Messenger a lot and it's not on the list to turn on. I didn't even see regular text on there.

I switched from Google messages to Textra and now the edge lighting works when I get a text.

Yeah it could just be that Google Messages is not supported. Not all apps work with Edge Lighting. Gmail should work tho.
