Android Central Question

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the edge lighting seems to only be working when I get an instant message. I don't see it working with my Yahoo or Hangouts applications. I have the Always On selected and I made sure those applications were selected to work with the feature. In fact, I chose All just to see if that would work. But only the instant messages work. Very strange. Any suggestions?

OK, Edge Lighting description gave me the answer... but so far I only get it to work with the screen on (screen off or AOD still not working). You have to set each app's notification as 'Urgent' OR, if the app supports it (like Whatsapp and Textra), activate pop-ups. Those annoy me so it's the first thing I turn off on apps that let me. Facebook doesn't, it pops up anyway.

THAT'S the key: the pop up. Only notifications with that will trigger the light (and while it sucks, it is quite clear in the description, so...)
