Hi team

OK, so I'm having an irritating time with edge lighting. I have it set up so that custom lighting comes up when I receive a notification with specific text. I'm more wanting this for the different messages I receive from different groups in WhatsApp.

I'll try to break it down as clearly as I can...

So, I have WhatsApp set up to come through as blue.
When my GF messages me on WhatsApp, I've got it set on orange and the text is set up as her full name and it works.
I have a group called 'CKN' that has about 6 people in it.
I've set it to come through as red when I get a message in the 'CKN' group but it never works, it only comes through as blue.
It did work for initially and now it's just ignoring what I've set it to do.

Also, Outlook never does it. Even though it's set to colour as per the app, not text, it never works.

Anyone has similar issues? Any suggestions?

This post piqued my curiosity. Wasn't previously using this feature. EDGE LIGHTING works fine on my Note 9 and Note 10 Plus. Both are on Android 10 One UI 2.0. You seem to have it set up the way you planned. Have y cleared the EDGE APPS cache?

Another suggestion, make sure in notifications nothing is set to sleep and that all the notifications you want are set up to "sound and pop up" otherwise the edge lighting won't work.

On my Note 9, running Oreo, I have boomerang style selected. It does not show with notifications. Fluid style also does not work, but the other styles do work.
What's that all about?

I saw this and realized that my Edge lighting hasn't worked in a while either. I only have it for a few apps, but it doesn't work, no matter what style I use - except if I use the stock Samsung Messages app. I can get it to work using that app, but using Google Messages or Textra, it won't work with those notifications no matter what options I try. I cleared cache, cleared data, then even uninstalled Edge Lighting+ from Good Lock to use just the basic version. No luck - it will not light up for notifications. Very odd.

It appears certain apps aren't compatible with Edge Lighting. Have you checked to ensure the app was/is selected to prompt the action? I looked at my app list and not all apps were there and some seemed to have dropped off over a series of app or OS updates.

Ha, I just figured out my Textra issue as I was playing with it more. I had the settings within Textra notifications to popup a Textra Heads-up notification. I chose Android Heads-up as the option for the notification and voila, my Edge Lighting now works again with Textra.

For applications that doesn't work with Edge Lighting especially when screen turns off, this is because the notification of the affected application doesn't turns on the screen, and there is no way for us to change this with a setting for the application (only the application developer can do this).

BUT I found an application that does fix it : this is Edge Lighting Fix for All Apps, with this application you choose the notifications that doesn't work with Edge Lighting and this little app will wake the screen and post a new notification and it finally works (well there is some limitations, for instance with my email application I only see the sender of the e-mail and not the sender and subject...)

The app is free to use, and there is a paid version for choosing the icon of the new notification per application.

Note : previously I had tested the Glimpse Notification app. I was using this app on my Galaxy S7 Edge to turn on the screen when receiving a notification. And of course this was also working to fix Edge Lighting but the notification that was visible in Edge Ligthing was the glimpse one, and not the orignal application...
