Last week text edge lighting wasn't working. Today it's working, screen up or down, but only with the screen on. Phone call edge lighting works too. Email isn't working. I haven't checked reminders or voicemail.

Check that your app notification settings are set up correctly as well as Edge lighting settings.

You have to allow notifications permissions in the apps that you selected edge lighting for

i use Nova and it works with my messages app and when people call me . when i get calls i've only seen it to work facedown, but with messages it works facedown or up and with or without the screen on. I could not get it to work with typemail, gmail, or yahoo mail. i'm testing now to see if it works with facebook.

I've done that and it won't work consistently. At least the majority of other nice features on the phone work just fine

I can say it does not work on FB, Snapchat, and email. It's working great on messages though.

It's always worked on my phone for Outlook, Phone, and both Textra & Messages.

Just joining the crowd. I know it was working the first week or so (definitely before any updates), but didn't really pay attention much after that. Just like with the Note 7 & 8, I looked to see any new features in it, but never kept it on since if I'm not using my phone, I'm typically not looking at it. I tried it out with four apps, and until this topic didn't realize it wasn't working anymore.

FWIW, I'm on VZW, all updates installed. These are my settings, exactly how it worked, when it did. Whether up, down, screen on/off, S View cover open/closed...

Does anyone have Edge Lighting actually working?

I have the factory unlocked Note 9, currently on Nova Launcher. It wont work. Ive checked settings, permissions, tried without AOD on, with it on, etc.

Would be a nice feature darn it

Just remember that for the Edge to work, the notification must be set to URGENT. If it doesn't 'pop up' on the top of the screen, Edge doesn't pick it up.

You have to go into the notification settings. Once there click on whatever app you want to change and then click general notifications and when you get to the next screen click importance. That's where you can pick urgent. I have found that not all my apps have that option so I guess it just depends on the app. The pictures I used as an example are from the messages app.

Thank you for the tip about switching the notification to urgent with pop up . That helps a lot.

That's the only app that was working for me. Now I've got Yahoo mail and this game called songpop to work ,but it took a few hours for it to start working. Still waiting to see if Gmail and the visual voicemail will work.

What do you guys think about the usefulness? Is it worth the effort to set it up?
