Edge Lightning Not Working

I did a factory reset on my S6 Edge yesterday. Using stock Samsung messenger app. The edge lighting came on for a moment when I got text from gf.

Cannot seem to choose the color though and it was a brief flash of strange faded yellow color that ran down both sides of screen when screen was off and upside down.

That's a long way down from the gorgeous colors and edge lighting that used to appear on the screen when I first got this phone.

I used to like the fact that if u missed a call or text there would appear a colored tab on the side of the screen, just above your dge tab.

As you slid the tab out to see it, it dragged out like a fluid or liquid separating from the mass until it became it's own bubble. It was a nice interactive animation sort of thing.
I think it use to be called circles and you could assign a different color to the first 5 on you're list in people edge but when they did the 7.0, I think it was that one, upgrade they did away with that, now that is what I remember

*My edge lighting for notifications is working perfectly on my T-Mobile Note 8...

Just Follow these steps exactly;

(1) Click Settings, Click Display, Click Edge Screen, Click Edge lighting (mine is on Always). Click on the Word Always to enter sub menu.

(2) Click Manage notifications, Choose what you like, I have Messages, WhatsApp, Email, and Gmail selected. Back out one page.

(3) Click on Advanced Settings, Highlight Custom color Then click on the round DOT to the right of the word Custom color, Setup your cutom colors choose done, then back out a page and set Width all the way over to the right and leave Transparency on Low.

(4) Top right of page press Preview, when your happy with your color back out one screen. At the very top of this screen make sure that Edge Lighting is set to "on". After that back all the way out Your Done!

*Notifications have to be setup like this to work as there not album color. Do exactly what I wrote and you guys should be fine. :)

Tried this, but it still doesn't work. I am on Verizon, does it work for anyone else on Verizon?

Edge lighting is working great on my S8+. Just saw the edge lighting work with a news app while the screen was off and the phone sitting here screen up.

I just have no idea why it's not working on my Note 8, same exact settings.

I'm on Verizon, and it works for the stock Samsung Messenger app, but not with Verizon's Message+.

I have GMail selected in the options, but this does not turn on edge lighting for me.

So at this point, it's only working with Samsung's Messenger App.

Thanks for the reply. I have had it turned on for email, gmail, msgs, and msgs+ and it works with none of them.

I have the settings at maximum width, and lowest transparency, for greatest visibility. I have a custom color chosen (bright green). Don't know if any of that would make a difference, but something else to check. If that doesn't enable it, I don't know what to try next.

I'm on Verizon as well. It only works for the stock message app (the Orange one) will not work for message+(the red one) or any other app for me so far. You have to have the stock message app as your default.
The only other one that has kind of worked is facebook, but only with the screen on

Today, I've had edge lighting work for all kinds of apps including a local news app and now Facebook as well as messages and other apps on my S8+.

Still only works on messages app on my Note 8. The difference in settings that worked on my S8+ is that I have only individual apps and not ALL apps that I have on my Note 8. I have now turned off all apps on my Note 8 and selected individual apps. Maybe that makes the difference and maybe there is a bug when you select all apps.

I've tried everything possible and every suggestion, and cannot get edge lighting. Hoping for a software solution down the road.

I just discovered something:

Previously, I was able to get Edge Lighting to work when receiving Texts, but only with the Samsung built-in Message app, and not with Verizon's Message+.

I went back to the Verizon App, because it works better when using the Message+ Windows App on my PC.

I just changed some settings on the Phone's Message+ App, specifically the "Enable Popup" option, and once I did this, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Edge Lighting now works with Verizon's Message+ app.

So if it's not working for you, trying enabling the pop-up, and see if that gets it going.

This worked for me. Thanks for the suggestion. Now if someone can tell me how to get rid of the pop-up notification that comes with the edge notifications. I don't see an option to get rid of it.

Oh man. Thank you so much for posting this! It finally works!! :D

Mine just started working on it's own starting Tuesday when I got my free charger from Samsung and I used it for the first time. The edge lighting started to work when I used the charger for the first time.
