Edge Panel and Status Bar

If you set "advanced lab" setting to turn on "full screen mode in split screen", you cant add a third window unless you swipe down to make the status bar visible (the edge panel won't open with this setting, two split windows open, and the stays bar not visible). Does anyone know how to get around this?
