A line on my plan has decided on upgrading (or edging up) to an iPhone 6. They're currently using a galaxy s5. When we go to edge up (75% edge plan), will we need to hand the phone over at that time or can we hold onto it for a day or so and make sure that everything transfers over? We also need to pay up to the 75% point, which means we aren't keeping the phone (nor are we planning to).

Not sure how it works in store, but if you do it online they'll send you a return envelope and you have a few weeks to get the old phone back to them.

I just did an Edge Up in June. If you do it online, you will have 14 days to return the old phone. If you do it in the store, and walk out with your new phone, you will have to turn in the old phone right then and there. However, if you instead have the store place an order for you, your new phone will arrive at your house in a day or two and you will then have the 14 days to return the old Edge phone (it must be the phone that was on the Edge plan). This is what I did when I got my LG G4. That way I could check out the phone first and ask some questions.

In store you have to give them the phone. Like anything you have 14 days to cancel
