If you record a 2 minute video, but only 10 seconds are worth keeping and sharing, what is your process to cut it down? There does not seem to be any apps to edit / trim 3gp files. After researching this, it seems the only option is to convert the file to an avi, then I can import into my editing program. I use Premiere Pro2.

So, I downloaded SUPER converter, and it is converting the video nicely over to avi, but no audio. Still researching what settings to use.

Shirley there are some videophiles on here that know an easier way?

Thanks!

no such apps that i've found--as i've wondered/searched the same thing.
Samsung phones will have this ability---as noted in their new feature phone (can't recall it), but it's quite nice and looks like a really intuitive app for editing video down to reasonable size straight from the phone.

and don't call me Shirley :)
(there's a user on here named "Stryker" or 'TedStryker", i jested with him but he didn't seem to get any of the quotes i was layin' down. i guess he couldn't say his "momma ain't raise no dummy, he dug [my] rap"
/airplane Quote.

LOL

I was hoping someone would take the bait and play along, thanks :)

If you are talking about editing them on your PC, then try opening them with your video software even if it's not an extension they recognize. You might have to select "All Files" on the Open dialog.

If that doesn't work, then try just changing the extensions to .mp4

The 3gp files are just a variant of MPEG-4, which commonly has an .mp4 or .m4v extension.

It's not an app for your phone, but I use TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 on my PC to edit .3gp video files. No conversion is required beforehand. It handles both the video and sound correctly. Then you have the ability to save the edited file in numerous formats.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
I remember TMPGEnc from years ago, but forgot all about it. I'll have to check that out.
