Efficient back up and transfer to new n7

I'm planning to leave my n7 with my husband in the Caribbean and return home to the UK. Is there an efficient way I can back up everything on the current then transfer to a new one at a later date?

Also, the main uses for my tablet are reading, browsing the net, the odd video/film and Candy Crush lol. Would it be worth getting the n7 2013?

I would use an app called helium to backup everything then no matter what android you have everything is there.
