Email account working only on stock e-mail app

Hello,

I have a Moto Z with a business e-mail configured on it (exchange) that is working only on the stock/default e-mail app - in this case, Gmail and nothing else, no other 3rd party e-mail app. The IT guys told me that this is company policy and this is intended, but I would really like to use another app for the business account, like Outlook or something else...not a big fan of Gmail.

Any ideas on how to bypass this?

Is this a company provided phone? Is it running some sort of MDM software? If it is and they are restricting the use of other software you are stuck.
