Hi!
I have a S7 Edge and the Gear S3 Frontier. I'm not a huge fan of the stock app. I normally use Maildroid Pro and it's been great. But it only displays the email and subject, not the full message on the Gear S3. Are there any other email apps, besides the stock Samsung email app that would work fully with the Gear S3? Meaning they'll allow one to open up the full email? And it also syncs properly with all folders (SENT and TRASH and INBOX, etc)

I've found the stock app doesn't sync fully with my IMAP email accounts, meaning that messages sent from my phone don't show up in the SENT folder of my computer. And also I have problems with emails not deleting off my phone. As in I delete it, and then moments later it pops back into my inbox as if I didn't delete it. Frustrating. Maildroid Pro has been great, and works okay on the watch, but it doesn't allow you to read the full email.

Thanks!

I use gmail & can see the full email when I tap on the short email notification on my watch & scroll through it. When you click on the email on your watch the full email does not show up?

It does show up in full, if I use the stock email app on my Samsung phone. I have gmail, yahoo, and also a business IMAP account and I'm just not a huge fan of that stock email app because it doesn't sync properly with my IMAP account which is really important to me. It works okay, but as I mentioned, the outgoing messages sent from my phone don't show in the server's SENT folder (on my computer) nor do items thrown in the trash or put in "drafts". There's simply not a lot of customization options which is what I like about Maildroid. But sadly, Maildroid works but doesn't show the full email.

You could try K9 mail. It's the one I'm using. The only issue I have with it, is when I receive more than 1 email notification at a time, it compresses them into 1 notification. Otherwise it's good, and works well with IMAP.

Thanks!! Appreciate the help. I actually ended up going with Blue Mail Email Mailbox app. And I really like it! It has TONS of great customization features which is what I loved about Maildroid Pro, as well as a light and dark theme. The mail for yahoo, gmail and my imap all come instantly instead of the delay of other email apps, and best of all it behaves GREAT on the Gear S3! Each email comes through individually and when it does the option that you have immediately right there on the notification is to "mark as read". Otherwise, you scroll left to see all your notifications and each email individually and when you tap on each email you can read the entire email and it has quick reply, mark as read, and delete options among others. Folder mapping is also great. No emails not showing up in my SENT box or trash or drafts online. I find this app really user friendly, fully featured, and VERY customizeable which is great and what I would miss most if I left myself stuck on Samsung's stock email app.

I already contacted their support with questions and they said they're working on a Tizen app! Nice! I also asked that unread messages be a little more stand out than read messages. You can set each account to have a color and you can make the subject and sender of unread mail BOLD, but I'd love to see a light great background over the dark grey inbox to make those unread emails stick out more. Also asked for Gear S3 support so that when an email comes through from various accounts, we can see which account it was directed to easily, possibly by color on the watch. Right now they all come in blue and don't say to which account (if you have several as I do) the email is directed to. We'll see if they implement either of these things in the near future. The developer of Maildroid app was always super responsive and quick to take on new ideas but they aren't going to work on Tizen, only Android wear, so looks like I may have found my new email app!

It's great!

Based upon your recommendation and the good reviews it has at the Play store, I am going to give Blue Mail a try on my Samsung Galaxy S7 and Gear S3.

I have been looking for an alternative to Newton Mail since they have started charging $50 a year for their service. I don't have a problem paying for a good product, but $50 is pretty steep. I actually prefer paying a reasonable price, feeling that the provider has a reasonable business model and will be there for the long term. I did a little research about Blue Mail, and I can't find much about the company providing it. Do you know where they are located, their history, etc. ? Based upon their ".me" address, it seems they are in Montenegro. Offering a completely free product that has so many features, makes me wonder what is the motivation.

UPDATE:

I've changed my mind and uninstalled Blue Mail from my Galaxy S7.

I did a little more digging and ran into a post by David Sklar at his website saying

I appreciate that the (anonymous) developers of this app have big plans for their service (and that they claim not to store my emails on their servers) but the combination of their evasive responses, no available information about who is actually developing the app (the domain is registered via Domains By Proxy), and an unknown amount of my info flowing to places I don’t control means no more Blue Mail for me.

That post was dated a little over two years ago, but I found it somewhat alarming. I'm going to keep searching for an alternative to Newton Mail.

I use Nine and it works nicely. Has been my go to app for my Exchange accounts

I also use Nine and I love it. Although Blue sounds great, it's tempting to jump over, but nine has been rock solid for years, its tough to beat them. Email is an extremely important part of my business, so it's tough to try anything new.

I too have installed BlueMail in past few days as Aquamail - which I normally use on my Samsung phone - and which is otherwise great, is really intermittent when it comes to sending notifications to my S3 when new emails arrive. With Aquamail, notifications on the S3 just sometimes come through, but with BlueMail so far they are pretty consistent. So, so far so good, but there’s one thing I cannot find how to do with BlueMail…

Is it possible to set an alternative DEFAULT font to be used when composing ALL of my emails and replies from Bluemail on the phone? I note I can, when composing an INDIVIDUAL email, chose an alternative font such as Calibri or Arial which is great. However, as I don’t like the look of Bluemail's default font, and want to use one like Calibri or Arial or Verdana which matches mail I send from Outlook on my PC, I’d prefer to have one of these fonts set as the default font which it uses whenever I compose an email or reply to one. I was able to set up a signature in Bluemail using my chosen font, so it seems odd if I can’t set a default font to be consistent with the font used in the signature of my messages.

I’ve looked at Bluemail's online tips and cannot see an explanation in there of how to set a default font style. I’m hoping I can, as I have certainly been able to do so with Aquamail, which otherwise seems inferior to Bluemail.

.............. Is it possible to set an alternative DEFAULT font to be used when composing ALL of my emails and replies from Bluemail on the phone? ......

I emailed BlueMail support about this and got a very quick response as follows:

Indeed, we should work well with Android Wear devices, as well as partially other Wear devices with other OS’s.
In regards to your query – Setting default rich text settings for composing a new email is indeed part of our plans and high on our roadmap, and hope to release this soon.
For sure! We do hope to add Tizen OS support in a future update – we will pass your feedback onto the product team.

.. and Bluemail certaily shows notifications (and in fact full emails) on the S3 watch, but oddly it does NOT show notifications (or sound alert) on my Samsung Phone, unless I go into Global Settings and toggle OFF the setting which says “Android Wear – Show full notifications”. I've highlighted this bug to BlueMail tech support.

I have a question about email. I have a a Moto X Pure and a S3 Frontier. However when I look in the Gear app i don't have the email app on the phone. Is this because I'm using the Moto X?

Does Nine display the entire email message for you on your AW device? It only displays the email subject for me. Basically useless.
