Email downloading - how to prevent battery drain

Hi everyone,

is there a way to schedule receipt of e-mails for, say, every 4 hours or so?

I mean, I don't need it to be turned ON all the time

Yes. Go into your email settings and change how often it (each acct) goes out to check mail. Simple really.

There is no such option in the email Settings of the phone

Only "Sync Gmail" (Yes or No) and "Days of Mail To Sync"

No other relevant options

I just go into the mail app. Hit settings. Click on the email account I want to adjust, tap the "inbox check frequency" and change it to whatever I want.
