Hi everyone!!

New around here as of an hour or so ago... but when I was at one Sprint store last week, an employee told me that you could set your AOL, yahoo, etc email accounts up to route through Gmail that way it would be "PUSH" and you'd get them instantly. Well I didn't get the phone that day, but then was at a different Sprint store this weekend when I got my epic, and I asked them there and they weren't very hopeful and just said "go home to your email and do it on your computer" Well needless to say, I do NOT see any option like that when I log into my home computer. Can anyone explain how to do this for me?? That's the only thing I miss about my blackberry is having the push email?! So if there is a way to set this up I'd appreciate the help! :)

Or am I just better off getting an email app??

What they meant is to have all your email accounts forward to your main gmail email address. Then set the GMail (not the other Mail app) to that gmail account and it will push - that is how I set up my email.

For example, I have two yahoo accounts, I went to the web based mail page and entered the settings and looked for forward email. Entered my gmail account as the one to have those messages forwarded to and that was that.

When you do this do you have the ability to set up a configuration that auomatically replies as if you are the original receving account as opposed to the gmail account?

I didn't see a "forward mail" option in my AOL settings though.

Navigate to your gmail account using your desktop browser and look at the options menu. There are other ways to get email from an outside server and one of them seems to allow you to reply using the original email address rather than google's. I have not used these so I can not tell you much more but there there is significant doccumention on the google site about those features.

I have both yahoo and gmail accounts and prefer to keep them separate. I added the yahoo account and I don't know how much slower I get emails but they are coming through. I use the gmail for important things and the yahoo for stuff I don't need to see immediately.

I believe they do but they may have some form of grandfathering on older accounts (this is just me talking here, I don't know this to be true) because I was able to set this on mine with no extra charge or fuss.

I just enabled forwarding and POP3 access for free on my Yahoo! account last night. Here's an android forums thread with instructions.
