Email Issues

I started to get an authentication issues with my aol email which was synced through Gmail. I trouble shooted a couple different ways but resulted in deleted my aol email account from my phone. When I went into add the account back through Gmail it says I'm duplicating my account. I rebooted my phone and now nothing shows up in my Gmail but shows my account is active. Before I delete all my accounts and log in and out of my Google account is there any other ideas I can try here.
