Email not deleting

Friend has S6. Her mail account is set as IMAP on GoDaddy. On the phone mail is set to not delete from the server when downloaded. Recently the mail on the phone is not deleting when it gets deleted from the server via Outlook on her PC. This used to work fine a few weeks ago.

Is there a setting on the phone that forces retention?

Go into accounts and make sure email sync is on

I will do that but if sync was not set why does she get incoming email without doing anything to get it?

Well, finally got hands on. Sync was still turned on. The huge amount of mail was actually in the Inbox on the phone. And the PC. And the server. She still does not grasp how IMAP works.

Told her to move the mail to her PST sub folders on the PC and they will 'disappear' from the phone Inbox.
