Email Notifications Do Not Disappear When Read on Another Device

On my Huawei P30 Pro I use multiple email accounts with the default mail app. When I get a new email, I get a notification as configured on the lock screen and in the status bar.

If I read the email on my computer, the notification on the phone never disappears, even if I wait for days. New notifications come if I receive more emails but the notifications for already read emails do not disappear until I manually remove them.

I cannot find any configuration for this. Is this the standard behavior and can it be changed?

Make sure all your email apps are set to read the email account as IMAP, not POP3.

I use only the default app and all accounts are configured as IMAP.
