Email Notifications

I apologize if this tread already exists, but I am having a little trouble with email notifications, well, not really a problem but more of a "can't figure it out" type of thing. I have Handcent so i am getting a notification from there but I am also getting 2 more mail icons along with the Handcent icon in the notification area. I am assuming the stock email is one of them but I have that turned off or I think I do, maybe I am not doing it right. I read that you need to make sure the stock one is disabled in order for the Handcent app to work and to keep from getting duplicate alerts but I am getting them from somewhere so if anyone can explain how to make sure that is disabled please let me know!

The other 2 notifications you are probably receiving are from the native Gmail app and the native email app, which are two different things btw. The native Gmail app automatically syncs your email, contacts and calendar if you have it enabled in your phones settings (push email, etc.) The native email app does not sync that way, but it checks for new mail in intervals that you decide in that app's main settings. You have to disable both of these notifications or simply remove the accounts so that you don't get any notification, which is probably the easier thing to do if your going to be using handcent from now on.

Can you please explain just how to disable the native email and messaging apps? I'm using Handcent too, and would like to eliminate the duplicate notifications.
