Hi everyone,

Loving this Mate 9 but having serious push issues and not receiving my emails unless I physically go into that particular email app and pull down to refresh....then I'll see the missed emails come in.

I tried BlueMail, Nine Mail, and Alto...They have are set to push within the apps but they are indeed not pushing. Is this a phone setting in the Mate 9 that I'm missing?

Thanks for the help

Is your Sync toggle on the phone on? If it's disabled it won't 'push' automatically.

Hi,
Where would I find that? Normally it is in the pull down settings from the lock & home screens right?
Thanks

Also....some apps don't show badge icons. I emailed one of the apps and they said it's because API's are not supported???

Mine syncs great with BB Hub. I use Nova and Tesla Unread handles badges just fine.

Yup, the toggle should be in the notification shade, but if it's not there, you can also go to Settings, Accounts, and make sure that AutoSync is not turned off.

As for counters, the app dev is correct. Not all launchers support unread counters (not sure about Huawei's), not all apps are supported, and some, like Nova, require separate plugins for those to work at all.

GDWheel....Do you have a Mate 9?
Is Nova really needed? What benefits does it bring over the Mate 9's launcher?
Thank you

So I checked all sync settings and everything is in the "On" setting to sync.

OK, let's try this. I'm assuming your issue is with an Exchange account (since you mentioned Nine). Does the GMail app and e-mail work with Push normally? If so, try adding your Exchange account there. Does Push work with those e-mails or, again, just with GMail?

I'm having the same Push issue with BlueMail/IMAP. I don't have a sync option in the pulldown notification shade but I did go to Settings - Accounts and make sure"Auto Sync Data" was checked.

Hi SpookDroid,

First...thanks so much for taking the time to help, very appreciated. So, to update....I returned the Mate 9. A superb phone plagued by:

1. Email push issues. No accounts/email apps would push new emails regardless of settings.
2. No visual voicemail. I installed the AT&T VVM app and it was AWFUL!!.
3. Some app notifications would make no sound at all even though notification sound was "ON".
4. Ringtone and text volume was not the loudest even though I had all volumes turned to "MAX"
5. Notification LED light nowhere close to big enough or bright enough.
6. Incoming calls would show different call screens, meaning the UI design of the red/green icons to answer or decline calls sometimes looked totally different, very strange. This occurred on maybe half of the calls I got where the difference of the incoming call screen layout was so different that I missed the call because I couldn't figure out quick enough how to answer the Mate 9....Not good.
7. Unread badges on app icons (I think that's what they are called), the little red circle showing the missed or new messages in any given app. Some apps worked, some didn't.

So needless to say I missed A LOT of emails, phone calls, texts, and voicemails with this phone.

Did you try doing a factory reset before returning it? I mean, you were returning it and doing it anyway, right? Just curious if it was bugs in the phone's software or just a buggy installation.

Hope your new phone doesn't give you problems! What phone are you getting now?

I did factory reset the phone as a last resort and what a pain that was, plus I can't imagine why a brand new device would need a total reset already :(
Back to my trusty Note 5. Patiently waiting to see if a Note 8 comes to life.

It will... just not soon. The S8 was delayed until March, so the Note 8 will probably follow suit and be delayed, too.

There's 15 pages on here - but I can save you reading it - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/notifications-bug-t3505886

Summary... you can tweak lots of settings but at the end of the day we are all waiting for an update from Huawei. Apparently the Mate 8 was the same and they fixed it. I just had the issue with emails, everything else worked after working through the method at XDA, and after going back to the stock APP they are working now too. There was a suggestion that Wi-Fi+ might be doing something so I put that off but it's back on and still working - newest problem when I delete my old emails they keep coming back in the bin.

I use BlackBerry Hub. About half of my emails get pushed to my Mate 9 before they show up on my BlackBerry Passport. Try it.
