Hey everyone, newbie to Android here and have a couple email questions. First, is there any way on the Note 3 to get a direct push to my phone? As a musician my band often gets gig opportunities via email through promoters. They usually email 4 or 5 bands and usually whoever responds first gets the gig. Since the emails usually have all the gig info, the band leader just usually forwards those on so we can decide. That's one thing I loved about the iPhone was the instant push. I'm using the 15 minute setting but it seems sporadic on the alerts too. I still have my iPad and get instant alerts on email and I use that to measure my Notes response and it just seems off. Not sure. I haven't been opening the ipad either changing the status. Sorry for the long winded post, just trying to figure this out.

There have been some posts in the past about this issue. The stock email app is horribly broken, and unless Samsung decides to fix it, you won't see any reliable push. Even interval fetching is broken, and sometimes you will miss emails that were sent hours ago. The only thing that works consistently at the moment is manual retrieval.

You have other options such as K9 or Evomail. They work much better, but I find GMAIL app to be most stable and reliable client. If you have gmail account, use it. You could forward your work email or create another Gmail to retrieve work email via POP, but that will take away push capability as POP retrieval has its own random schedule.

I'm getting push emails through the stock email and it seems to be working fine.

Cool. Even if mine was/is working correct, I still wish they had an instant push.

it is instant push. go to your email app. go to your settings (via the settings) --> account settings (for your respective email accounts) --> sync settings --> set sync schedule --> Automatic (Push)

Wait really? I have mine set to push on receive using my windows phone. Android really doesn't have that option? So my exchange server will not get instantly pushed to my Note when I get it? This is 2013 isn't it? Why is that feature not available with all email address? Works with all of my email addresses on my windows phone. All of them push notifications to the phone as received.

Edit: Okay so it is possible for instant push. Thats good.

I only have:
Manual
15 min
30 min and so on.
No auto push for me.

I've also been kicked out of my yahoo account twice now since owning the phone. I'll try to manually access my email and it will give me a failed connection to server status and the pop up box tells me the server password has changed. It won't let me log in with my password and I have to go in and delete the account and then set it up again. Strange and annoying!

Well may be that is a problem with Yahoo because I have Gmail and I do have mine set to auto push in the settings.

im using gmail and my corporate work email and they both have push.

maybe it's Google preventing yahoo email users to have push...

Yeah, I'm not sure. Just seems a little finicky and disappointing. I truly love every other feature of the phone. Might just have to have the band guys start using my Gmail account to send me business stuff.

Well, I installed the Yahoo app and so far so good. Looks like I'll stick with that for now for my yahoo account.
