Emails not staying on the phone

When I first got my phone all my emails (using the stock email program) would stay on the phone after I downloaded them off the server with my home email client. Ever since updating to 2.2 those emails will no longer show up on my phone once I get them off the server. I have the download option set to All (though it doesn't retain any emails on the other settings either).

Anyone else having this problem? Is there an email program that will actually keep my emails on my phone after I've downloaded them from the server?

If you are using IMAP, the default is to delete from the server when deleted from the device. Thing is, they are normally moved to the trash can and can often be accessed there. Have you looked at the settings for how long they sit on your device? If you have it set to maintain a specific number on the device, is that number high enough? I maintain 200 on the device instead of number of days.

Nah its a regular pop3 Comcast account, nothing fancy. The emails don't get deleted or go to the trash folder, they just disappear. I'll try setting it to save a number of emails instead of by date and see if that works.

I have the same problem. After having the phone for a week, this could be a deal-breaker. Good thing I have that Treo still!

What device? What email app? It's difficult to assist without the details. I'd suggest trying another app if you don't find a setting in the existing app. It sounds like it's trying to "sync" with the POP server (even though you can't truly sync with POP). Perhaps there's a sync setting that you could disable to retain email on the device.

My device is an Evo. My email service is Bravenet. I've had my email address for like 7 years, and I've NEVER had this problem with ANY email client.

Once I download the emails onto my laptop email client, they're deleted from my Evo on the next sync. This is a HUGE problem for me!

I think that Google is trying to force everybody to switch to their email service. Ummm, NOT an option!

Why else would this problem not be addressed?

same problem here with EVO and time warner email. it didnt do it til recently. i have checked and unchecked the boxes in settings and on outlook on PC and no fix. open to answers though
