Emergency Call-how to disable it?

This annoying feature is on the lock screen, left of Alternative Password. I put my phone in my pant pocket throughout the day, and accidentally make at least 2 emergency calls per day. I have tried to delete all contacts in my emergency group, but somehow it manages to randomly readd them.

Is there a way to disable this feature altogether like unchecking the camera on the lock screen?

I thought this was a federal requirement from quite a few years back to have it available without having to unlock the device. Even my work blackberries have it with no options to remove it. Has that changed?

Oh, my bad. I thought it was the other emergency thing. The Emergency call is not something you can 'disable'.

Look in the ICE group of contacts and see if you can edit any default numbers, on the international S5 you can

I placed my wife's number there in the ICE group and put a message on the lock screen to say if found dial the emergency number below , so if I loose my S5 I hope someone will call

Thanks for the feedback folks. Attached are 2 screen captions. As mentioned, when my phone is in my pocket, it accidentally and randomly hits Emergency Call on the lock screen, then the Emergency Dialer screen comes on, then a call or text is made randomly. I have tried to remove all the Contacts on this screen, but it's almost like a chain reaction when Emergency Call is accidentally pressed in my pocket.

So is there a way to deactivate or uncheck the Emergency Call on the lock screen?

No you cant disable it but you could create some dummy ICE contacts so it's harmless or orientate your S5 differently in your pocket or change what switches the screen on

I have Emergency Mode switch OFF.

and I do NOT have any contacts in the emergency numbers list.
All my phone shows is four '+' (plus) signs.

I just pressed that Emergency Call button to see what would happen, four plus signs. nothing else.

I too found out that you don't want that feature activated, just way to easy to have it dial out w/o you wanting it to.

You folks are right, there is no way to disable it. With the help of you all, I think I was able to get around it by deleting my entire ICE group and make sure there are all 4 pluses in the Emergency Dialer screen. I think though the ICE contact group is the culprit. See the attached screen caption. I think when Emergency Call on the lock screen is accidentally pressed, another shuffle in the pocket triggers the ICE Contact or one of the 4 emergency contact (the pluses).

Like AZgl1500 said, it's way too easy to accidentally call without knowing.

Thanks all!

For the ICE type info.

I enter ICE at the end of my contact's name like this:

PC ICE(1)
Sandy ICE(2)
Mom ICE(3)

That way, if someone picks up your phone and enters ICE in the search function, all three of the contacts will pop up.

Works for me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but...............

I have the Lockscreen locked anyway, so how will that help me?
Answer, it won't.

My solution was a bit different.

See your name on the top of the Lockscreen? It is an option for you to put one there.
I put my name, daughter's name and her phone number.
It constantly scrolls across the screen, over and over...

Anyone looking at my phone can get that number and use their phone to call my daughter.

I had to delete the accounts that were saved to ICE. Then reprogram their numbers in. No matter what else I tried nothing worked.

Ok so I cant seem to delete my emergency caller off my home screen so when I am in middle of class u will here a phone going off bc of the person I **** diled is calling me back how do u get rid of it

I don't know if this works for other Samsung S-series phones, but i just accidentally found out how. Please note, I did this on a Samsung S4.

Once you press on the emergency call link on your locked screen, tap on menu, and it will pull up the Remove option. That's it! You may now tap on any or all of the names you wanna remove and tap the check mark on the upper right hand corner. ;)

I hope that works for all of you, guys.

This only applies to removing a contract from the emergency contact list, not actually disable emergency dial. As stated above, the only the remove emergency dialer from the lock screen is to be rooted OR be connected to your Samsung Gear and have Auto Lock checked in the Gear app.
