Emoji Issue

So I downloaded Go!keyboard because I could not stand the stock one and I am also running Handcent SMS with the Emoji plugin installed. Whenever I want to use an emoticon I press on the picture (smiley) and the curser in the text box will move one character but the picture will not show up in the text box. However if I hit send directly after that the smiley that I chose will send to the person I am texting to, A minor glitch but annoying non-the-less. Any way to get around this?

I think Ive found the one thing I miss from my iphone, the typing capability
