If you're with a carrier that supports unlocked bootloaders, then this option allows you to unlock your bootloader. From there, you are free to install custom recoveries, root your phone, and install alternate roms and other mods. I'm with AT&T. I'll likely never get to do this with my V10.

I'm with AT&T also. So far no way to root. Maybe it would make Greenify work better. Thanks... (my Note2 was rooted & I was with AT&T, very lucky didn't get caught)

Never say never. There is a pretty good sized bounty/reward posted right now to get a dev to work on root for carrier locked V10's. Who knows what the may yet come...
