Lets say i have txt messaging, kik, & snapchat. I'd like all notifications for those things off completely-no sound, no popup- no matter who it is-but i want ONE persons notifications to show up when they txt.

How would i go about doing that?

You can do that for the stock messaging app using Do Not Disturb, but I'm not aware of a way to do that for 3rd party apps.

Thanks! What about just for texts though? If i go into settings>notifications, i can turn notifications for a bunch of apps off. If i turn off notifications for texts, obvs i get none for texts. Is there a way to make one(or more,) numbers or contacts an exeption? It seems like a simple functionality but im not seeing it on my s21. Ineed it on an s20 but i dont have that phone with me currently-im assuming itd be the same for both.

Eta: just discovered you can do it via do not disturb, just allow certain numbers to call or text-but its silent, u can get a popup but no audio notification for the allowed contact. I NEED the audio notification.

It shouldnt be this hard (thats what she said)

In DND should be able to select favorite contact and just choose the one you want

All of them-the only messages or calls that come thru now are people on my favorites list. When thwy call or text a mssg pops up telling me so, but theres mo audio notification and i dont see where to turn one on.

Try this , long press the message icon then tap info>go to notification> tap incoming message then scroll to the bottom and toggle on ignore DND ....I have to see for phone but test message app that way .Screenshot_20210803-231619_Settings.jpg

For third party apps, you might try something like MacroDroid - you could turn off the sound, pop-ups for all notifications in the app itself, but create a macro in MacroDroid that IF a notification from Kik comes in AND it's a specific person (specific text string), THEN it will ring/vibrate (don't think it can do the pop-up though). Just an idea to pursue.
