Encryption Non Expandable <emory

Hi all I am sure this has been asked but I couldn't find a question relating to my specific environment. I have an HTC One which means non expandable memory so no SD slot. Do I still need to encrypt because even without encryption and the phone is locked a password is required to access the device as USB MSD or is it still advised?
