Encryption Problems?

Has anybody tried to use the storage encryption feature?

I attempted to turn it on with mine, and now my phone randomly gets stuck at the green wire frame robot screen you see while the phone is encrypting. It is almost like it never finished the encryption job and every once in a while it decides, "Oh hey, I better go work on that some more."

I tried encrypting mine (it's required for me to get my work Exchange email natively). It got to about 60%, failed, and factory-reset my phone.

so, yes, I'd say there's still some bugs with encryption. I've not tried it again since.

I will say that since then I've not noticed any longterm negative effects.

You might want to call Sprint support. They talked me through doing a complete wipe of the phone (you do this through the keypad). I think it probably helped. They were actually pretty nice about helping me through it too.

Our office uses Zenprise for mobile device management. I think the problem might be with Zenprise. Every few hours, the phone will prompt me to encrypt the internal storage. I can escape out of it, but it is just going to try again a few hours later. As long as I don't have Zenprise for Employees activated, I am OK, but then I can't get my email.

I have done more factory resets than I can count in the last few days trying different things to get it to work but so far no go.

One unusual item... the encryption process only takes like 5 minutes or so, but the phone warns at the start that it will take an hour or more. I know when I encrypted my Android tablet, it took over 2 hours to do the encryption.
