Kind of a surprise that sprint would kill the Evo 3d. It's lived a short life. I would assume it has something to do with the Evo 4g LTE coming soon. Now I'm really wondering if it will ever see ICS.

It still doesn't make since why they would kill the EVO 3d cause the EVO 4g run 2 years before they stopped it even after the 3d came out . I knew people who got a 100 dollars off for there old EVO on a trade for the 3d so It's crazy . They still have the nexus s and the old epic 4g on the site and the EVO 3d is a better phone then those 2 .

They did not advertise the EVO 3D as much as the other phones. I dont think the 3D feature was as popular than Sprint thought.

Sigh. Here we go again.

Nobody's KILLING the EVO 3D. Nobody's going to come and snatch it from your hand.

End of Life just means that they'll stop selling it. Period.

Chances are you won't even notice it happens.

But we love our 3vo's Phil. We don't want Sprint to stop selling them. I for one am leaving Sprint for a carrier that knows how to treat it's best hardware. (sarcasm) ;)

Odds are that those of us who wanted the Evo 3D got it already. I doubt it has been a big seller for them lately. This was bound to happen to all of their Wimax phones in the coming months with the LTE lineup coming out

Understandable considering that WiMax is being dropped in favor of LTE. What I wonder is, how long before WiMax service is discontinued? For sure Sprint will continue the $10/mo surcharge since it's a smartphone high data usage surcharge, not a 4G surcharge.

Wimax will be supported until 2015. Or at least until the end of this year when the world ends. :D

I'm not complaining about the end of life for the 3d. Just the fact that I was surprised. I was also just kidding bout it getting the update. I know it will get. At any rate my upgrade is due in a few so I won't have this 3d for much longer.

How is your upgrade do if the 3D only came out a year ago. Unless you bought your at retail(which is ka-razy!!)

I had an Evo 4g and in December my screen cracked so bad there was no way I could use it. So they sent me an brand new Evo 3d to replace it.

Think about it people.
If you have a perfectly good Evo 3D that's on track to get ICS and you live in a good Wimax city, would you really upgrade just for a slightly better screen, NFC, and in my case LTE?

My answer would be no!

To sell more of the newer phones Sprint has to stop selling last years model that will be almost as good as the new model, once it gets the ICS update.

Indeed. I have great WiMax coverage. Why would I upgrade to a 3G phone with the promise of a sub-par (1800mhz) future LTE network.. it's almost a joke..

But Sprint isn't targeting the Evo 4G LTE to Evo 3D users. They are targeting it to the hundreds of thousands OG Evo users that are about to come off their contracts this summer. The Evo 4G was a runaway hit, and LOTS of people still use it. Most of those people will have an upgrade this summer, and trust me they won't be upgrading to the 3D.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the End of Life of the Evo 3D is related, but not from a customer perspective. They are stopping production on the Evo 3D so that HTC can focus on making as many Evo LTE's as possible. I don't think it will affect their ICS rollout at all.
