Hi folks,
Long time lurker, first time thread starter. Hope this is in the right section.
Anywho, have loved my optimus s since I made the switch from a bb curve late last year when sprint had their promotion.
The only thing I can find that I would even slightly consider as a negative for this otherwise fantastic device is that it seems to refuse to properly run any kind of call blocking app. I've tried MANY free and paid apps (PrivacyStar, call blocker, mr number, afirewall, etc). When using the "send to voicemail" function of any of these apps, the phone will still ring as normal as if there wasn't a blocking program installed at all. Most interestingly, if I choose the "pickup then hangup" blocking feature it picks up the phone but doesn't hangup leaving the line open.
It seems this may be a problem on the whole optimus line with the endcall api. As seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-929801.html
Can this be fixed in a custom rom?

Can it, of course it can, this is software. Will it? That is a different question.

It sounds like this is a generic LG Optimus problem introduced by LG. If you can find a fix someone might port it over. If not, it could take a while to diagnose and implement a fix, assuming someone is sufficiently motivated, which isn't assured.

Thanks :)
I do wonder if this has been corrected in a gb port like cm or aosp. Might just flash and see. Ill keep looking to see if anyone discovers a fix also.

I've never had an issue with the stock "send calls to voicemail" option...

however, cant block unknown from calling with that option...

The post referenced basically says that. The stock function is ok. The endcall API as implemented by LG is broken. Unfortunately all the 3rd party call blockers use the endcall API.

I was more mentioning I've used it with no issues, however, I've never installed any of the call blocking programs.... I know PrivacyStar is more leaned toward GSM phones, with CDMA being unfortunate enough to not be able to use Voice and Data bands simultaneously.

Hi :)
The stock "send to voicemail" function works fine. Just when it is invoked by a third party app is when issues appear. I actually have rigged up tasker to block unknowns by having it toggle airplane mode, and have youmail configured with my contact list to block specific numbers. Hopefully someday the third party app thing will get fixed so these multitudes of steps aren't needed for a simple function :)

Thanks :)

The option is certainly there in aosp gb, but haven't used it. Will give it a try and report back asap.

Yes, it does seem to work as it immediately transfers the blacklisted number to voice mail.

OooO
Thank you! Will have to check it out! Did you try any apps that utilize the "pickup then hangup" option such as mr. number?
Just to make sure we are on the same page ---- the stock send to voicemail feature (as setup via contacts) does work on my end. Just when using a third party blocker app does it not work, nor the "pickup and hangup" feature.
Thanks in advance. Hope this is the solution!!!
