Endosnake USB camera doesn't work with S9+

My Endosnake USB camera doesn't work with my S9+. It is recognized by the phone, prompts for permissions and the CameraFi2 app sees the device. The image is not displayed. It is just a black screen. I have tried with and without the OTG adapter. It works correctly on my wife's S8 and on Windows 10 using the Camera app. I did a factory reset on my phone and it still does not show the image. I tried several other camera apps as well. Any ideas?

Email the company. The S9 doesn't seem to be the only phone they didn't test on.

I already emailed them and they said they were going to send a replacement camera for free. After I told them that it works on my PC and my wife's S8, I haven't heard from them again. Their contact phone number is "no longer in service". I installed the USB OTG Checker app and it it says that the phone is "Android compatible" and it lists the camera as a connected device. The website for their suggested camera app CameraFi2 lists the S9 as compatible, with a note that says it requires the OTG adapter. The S8 does not require the adapter. Samsung told me to contact the camera manufacturer. I tested the OTG adapter with a USB keyboard and a thumb drive.

As soon as I saw that, I wouldn't buy the camera. Either it's a USB source or a USB consumer, it can't be both. And a camera should require an OTG adapter (or they should supply an OTG cable with it).

Just make sure that your S9 USB isn't set to power only or power the connected device only. It should be set to MTP. (And the way Oreo and Pie have been going, check that each time you plug the camera in. The setting doesn't always "stick".)

I have enable Developer Options. Under "Default USB Configuration" it has the following options:

Transferring Files, USB tethering, MIDI, Transferring images, and Charging phone only. There isn't an MTP option. I have set it to Transferring images. I have tried Transferring files also. In Notifications, it says "Charging connected device via USB". The options to change "Use USB for" are ghosted. Transferring images is selected as the default. Under "USB Controlled by", "Connected device" is selected. If I try to select"This Phone" it says "Couldn't switch".

I have emailed the company again and gave them an update on everything I have tried. I asked them to send the replacement camera that they offered so that the hardware can be ruled out. I hope they respond quickly.

I received a replacement camera today. As expected, it is no different than the original camera. This device clearly does NOT work with a Galaxy S9+.

I received the WiFi unit today. I am now able to use my S9+ with the camera! It adds an extra step to have to connect the phone to the WiFi unit, but at least it works. Maybe there will be an update to the phone that will fix the problem.

I'm glad at least you got it going

I have found that the WiFi unit is highly susceptible to interference. If I attempt to use it at my desk, which is very close to my router, the signal is very unstable. The video constantly freezes and the screen goes black. If I use it downstairs in my kitchen, it works as expected.
