I'm pretty excited, it appears to solve the issue of using a case and connecting to a dock. The real questions is how much will it cost and if a tethering plan is required.

And it will cost $600, probably. Anything over $150 is stupid, but seeing the highway robbery prices for the AV dock, I'm not holding my breath that this will be anything close to affordable/reasonable.

I can understand a higher cost, since it is designed to act as a replacement for a laptop, but it is not a true replacement. I love my Photon, but I could get a laptop for the same price, which will obviously surpass the capabilities of my phone.

I think that the laptop dock would be reasonably price in the 200-300 range. It won't be a huge seller, but if you buy a motorola keyboard and HD dock, you are in the $150 range, then add in a screen, and the portability factor, I would think that is fair.

However, I'm not buying one...

I've been patiently (or not) waiting for this. I'll definitely be purchasing assuming there's no contract or additional service like adding tethering a la AT&T.

I think 150 is my sweet spot with no monthly extra's. I mean realistically we'll be using a different phone in 2 years, preferably a 4g LTE one, and I don't want to be too committed to accessories.

I would be OK with $600 IF and only IF the dock its self was able to be upgraded AND it was connected via a method which would allow future phones to be used. Otherwise, $150-$200 would be my max.

BTW, I think the first method is called a netbook/laptop

If this was priced $200 or less, I'd get it. From the pics, it looks a lot better than the Atrix dock.

I'm wondering if the newer lapdock 500 is compatible with the Photon or if Sprint is even going to sell it some point down the line. Would hate to get the new Lapdock 100 and end up seeing that the newer to the new Lapdock 500 beig a few ($100) bucks more and available on the Now network.

The 500 might not be compatible as it has a higher than 720p resolution. Not sure if the photon cam output that. I also doubt that the photon will be able to handle the external webcam.
