tried uninstalling/reinstalling. wiped partition cache. no joy. anyone else having issues with engadget app?

Yes, on Nexus 7 and 10, but Nexus 4 is ok.
I have found the app on Nexus 7 has been slow for quite a while, but now it takes about 1 minute to load and then you can't scroll for another 1/2 minute. The Nexus 10 is a bit faster, but still too slow.
Are you actually seeing it crash or do you get the Wait, Report, OK box? Usually if you click on Wait the app will eventually respond. Even the Android back button stops responding during this time.

I'm on the Nexus 7 and I get the Wait, Report, OK box. Can't understand why only this app lags like this. It doesn't render any more images than some other apps that I use. Certainly not more than CNN. Guess we'll have to wait for it to catch up to 4.3.

Not sure one can say "only app that lags like this" - many times, while using Pulse (and choosing to 'Read More' - and thus its internal browser), I'll get a lag, a freeze and the Report / Close box.

Google and the App Producers can battle it out as to who is responsible - apps demanding too much processor, or something within Android not working as well as it should on the N7? Argues as to whether this posting it should be in this particular forum or another?

I see this on my N7 so I gave it a try on my "old" Xoom, which is consistently slower than my N7, and the app works very well on it. The Xoom is still at 4.1.2, my 2012 N7 is at 4.3.

Also having a similar problem with Flipboard on the new Nexus 7
