Epic 4G -- Got questions? Ask them here!

Go read other q/a threads. They will take questions from here and answer them on the front page in 1 thread. They let this go on for a while so they can gather the questions. Quit whining, or go to the Evo page.

Calm down rufflez, no one is whining. Thanks for all help you give on this forum by the way. As you know, only squeaky wheels get greased.

Sorry, my bad, I'll try to have more patience. :)

See, already more smiles. OK, anyways, these are used to pool questions for a giant Q/A post in the Blog.

Is 400MB Enough for Applications?

Hello,

I keep reading that the internal drive in the Epic has only 400MB free. I believe this is the drive where all applications are stored. So is this really enough space to install a high number of applications?

With Froyo, yes. We'll get 16 gigs from our SD card to store apps. However, widgets don't run well...YET. Otherwise, I did learn that Apps2sd works very well with apps that are allowed to be transferred to sd card and that the apps run smoothly.

400mb though should hold you over with a lot of apps until Froyo. I think it's a bit more than that though.

speaking of SD cards..... what speed is the 16gb that comes with it? class2? if so, is it worth getting a faster class6 microSD card?

Its class 2... and that depends on what you're looking to do with it. If you are going to be constantly loading it, unloading, loading it, may be beneficial to get a higher class card. Otherwise, its fine for normal use, watching movies, even loading apps in the future.

good to know, yes, plan on watching movies on it quite a bit during the commute to work....

does whatever media player it has let me watch movies in the avi format? i have tons of stuff like that and it's annoying to convert everything to mp4...

Well, yes, it has divx support. technically avi isn't a format. I'm glad that transcribed over from the other galaxy s phones, though.

Would love to know how many ring tones / notification sounds come pre-loaded onto the Epic, and how easy it will be (if at all) to customize different sounds with different features

e.g. a sound for SMS notification, a ringtone for email (different ringtones for different email types like Yahoo, gmail?), and a different sound for calendar reminders...

I hope the customization options are many (although even though I'll be a new Android user, I'm sure there is or will be apps in the Marketplace to help out with this if it doesn't come as a stock feature on the phone)
