Epic 4G system dump

i get it now.

After conflicting reports of Asphalt 5 being demo or full, this shows it is indeed just a demo. They couldn't spring for a 5 buck game? Really? Oh well.

seriously, that's one of the biggest things that errk me off on this, especially with them charging more for the device you would THINK that Sprint could spring for a 5 buck game, especially with no FM, so daily briefing, no samsung music player, seems kinda stupid to me, but oh well.

Leave sprint tv and nav. Both are fairly useful. I was actually surprised at how terrible google nav does voice directions.

Kthxbai

actually honestly I like them both, Sprint nav is really up to date on the poi's, but google IMO is the better one in getting redirected, honestly IMO it's a draw between the two, i just like that Sprint offers us not only the google nav, but the telenav for free.

question, is sprint TV allowed on wifi like the nascar app is, or is it just cellular data????

Don't get me wrong, but I believe there is an FM radio, just not activated. Once again, if there is, it'll be easy to activate it through a ROM. I think the iPhone has an FM radio tuner, but it is not activated either.

Radio .Apk & .ODEX file are not present so such activation cant take place

It is built into the hummingbird chip. Not confirmed, but I am pretty sure of it.

Well, I don't think the iPhone had access to any file to do with FM radio either.

EDIT: I found this about the iPhone:

"The jailbreak community hasn't produced an FM radio for iPod Touch, which also technically has FM capability in that Broadcom chip. Just because the chip can do it doesn't mean the rest of the hardware can handle it. there has to be an antenna accessible to the FM portion of the chip, there has to be firmware support for telling the chip to switch on its FM radio, there has to be a way for the audio signal produced by the chip to be routed through the audio processor, there has to be a way to signal the chip to tune specific frequencies...I bet none of that is possible through software alone, even in a jailbreak context."

I just took the family on a 1500 mile (one way) trip and back and used my Pre for navigation the whole way. I found that I prefered Google Maps for finding places to eat and hotels but I would then put the addresses into Sprint Navigator to actually get us there.

So, I'm a +1 for leaving both in your custom rom project.

Speaking of, I've had an evo for 3 weeks but it stayed stock. I'm thinking if/when I get the Epic that I'll likely go custom. How hard will it be to Root and put on a custom Rom? What are the drawbacks (other than the obvious warranty voiding)?

Rooting will be ridiculously easy. Custom roms are harder, but you can learn if you try.

Im a HUGE sprint nav fan, but I have never found a use for sprint TV. I have slingbox and that seems to be more then enough for me.

Please add lock screen and fancy music player from other GS phones.. BTW, I also noticed in a review that contacts app has the history tab missing in Epic while other GS phones have it. Will we have a different call log app then?

My only concern is adding all the touchwiz 3.0 goodness that is lacking on the Epic 4G while at the same time keeping the version of swype that the Epic currently has (voice button)

Who would have thought we'd be begging for more touchwiz at this point LOL
