Hope you guys can help. My wifes Epic has no ringtone or notification sounds since last update. Sprint rep I talked to tonight said he had no knowledge of such a problem and suggested I try resetting my phone. He actually said, "have you tried the forums? Those guys sometimes figure out solutions before we do." Help!

Ps unfortunately, I'm not a techy

This is probably a stupid question, but have you checked the sound settings to see if the ringtone and/or notification sounds have been set to silent for some reason? Mine have changed on me before, though I'm not sure why. I got another sound than the one I originally set, but perhaps you got the silent one. This may not be the problem, but it's probably worth checking anyway before wiping the device. I don't really know what might fix it though (assuming it's not just a setting change) -- hopefully someone else can offer more information.

Did you change the default calendar to a gmail calendar? On mine (Epic 4G), every time I set default calendar to gmail the ringtone gets set to silent. If I change the ringtone to something other than silent it changes the default calendar back to phone cal. Weird but I haven't found a fix & only since GB update (manually).

Thanks for the advice guys! Yes, I have messed around with the sound settings, turning them down up, etc. nothing works.
I haven't checked calender tho! I will do that.
Thank you!

I've had this or a similar isssue, No external sound what's soever, yet I could hear everything through headphones and bluetooth head set. had to take my epic 4g to the sprint corporate store to get the external speaker repaired. Fortunatlly its a same day gig.... just make sure if that's the case, after they do repair it, the power key is working alright. When they repaird mine, they jacked up my power button key (I'm guessing the circutry must be close to the speaker circutry) fortunatlly I noticed right away and hadn't gotten to far, to go back have have them fix that too

Sounds like Crazaytalent is on the right track, before I did that would definitely try a factory reset. Though you mention you are not a techie, if sprint can't manually fix the phone I would Highly recommend looking at rooting and flashing some of the great custom Roms that have been developed for the Epic, QBKing's videos alone couldn't be more simple and explanatory and your experience with your Epic will/could become a much, much more enjoyable one
