Equalizer not working for any music apps

Like the title says, I adjust the equalizer and other audio effects for when I listen to music over Bluetooth in my car or via headphones at work or the gym and nothing changes - tried it in spotify and Google music and nothing. Tried changing the settings when no music was playing, all devices disconnected, still no change when I turn it back on. Am I missing something?

Download poweramp and see it that setup works. It should let you override the settings, or at least prove there's a bigger issue.

Like most people I've been having this issue since I bought my note 3 second hand last week. I fixed it by locating the "Soundalive" app and force closing it and deleting data and cache. It instantly started working normally.
