Unfortunately, I have to agree.

In trying to be different with the "Friends" modular design, I think LG made too many compromises in the actual phone itself.

The HTC 10 looks like a really solid device so far. Hope they sort out that camera.

As for me, the Galaxy S7 has really impressed me. It may look the same as the S6, but they really improved what needed to be improved and made a phenomenal handset in the process. Hope they do the same with the Note 6, because that phone is already set to be my new daily driver.

100% agree. This has really presented HTC with a great opportunity. I hope they are able to take advantage of it.

So for what it's worth, I asked LG's corporate PR team (who we talk to all the time) about this after seeing the JRE video a few days ago. LG's Ken Hong (who I know pretty well, for who may question his legitimacy — YouTube cracks me up sometimes) replied in the YT comments.

I think the most alarming part of this issue isn't what they've done already, but rather what they're not doing now.

They used what they thought was best materials and that's okay that's a bold decision. But with defective units with uneven finishing they should own up! And say that they'll replace the bad units and work on better finishing from now on. Just to gain consumers trust. Because they're losing it fast.

I'm more worried about the display. Not the actual display quality since it's fine in most cases, but the entire panel and backlight.

There's prominent backlight bleed on more than a few units, usually at the bottom, where the chin module sits. The panel itself is also pretty thin, which causes the LCD itself to "bloom" while touching it. It looks cheap to me, which is never a good thing on a $600+ phone.

The good thing will be if that is the case we might see a price drop now vs later or better bundles to get more sold I would buy it then . But that light bleed has to be fixed the screen is the top priority on a slab phone.

Good review there thanks for posting here's to hoping we can get more good units and lord knows get way better displays I really still want this phone. Also anyone find. Good camera reviews yet.

I have to say the review she did based on the unit she received was on-point. I don't think she was inherently false. This may change if she reviews a replacement G5. Time will tell.

Probably the s7 or s7 edge. On my carrier (EE uk) it's basically I phones, Samsung and a few mid range phones. So there isn't much choice. I know the s7 is a brilliant phone, but I was hoping for something a little bit different to everyone else (phone hipster!)

I just got the regular S7. I have to say, it's fantastic. I am glad i didn't wait for the G5.
From the looks of those videos, the G5 is about the quality of the $129 Blu phones on amazon.

I went to see the G5 yesterday in the Verizon store because I was considering upgrading to it since it has a removable battery. While the build, speed, and software were fine (no seams, irregularities, or ill fitting bottom piece like on Erica's phone) the screen was highly disappointing. The backlight bleed is a problem. Even though it's not visible most of the time, it's noticeable against a light background or on high brightness. However, the biggest problem is how thin the screen glass is. It distorts and blooms with even moderate finger pressure, which irritates me to no end. It reminded me of those crappy resistive touchscreens on pocket PC phones many years ago, which isn't good at all. Very disappointing, LG.

Oh, and while the camera takes good photos, focus and shutter speed is only average (on par with the Nexus 6p) and much slower than the S7. Guess I'm passing on this one.
