Erik not recognized by Google Now voice commands

My mother just picked up the Razr Maxx. We were getting her used to Google Now voice commands. When she tried to dial my brother Erik from her contact list, I watched the search type out Eric instead of Erik and it could not find the contact. Is there any way to help this along without changing my brother's name or spelling? The phrase she used was "Ok google now" of course " call Erik mobile".
