I'm upgrading from Storm1. Wife has Eris. I really like it so I will likely get it or the Incredible. I'm looking at comparisons on Verizon. Not really much difference. Am I missing something that qualifies the $120 price difference?

Very fast Snapdragon processer and Android 2.1 OS are enough to sell me on the Incredible over the Eris. (Even though LOVE the Eris).

Incredible appears to simply be Eris on steroids, with the exception of no track ball. Other than that, it's the same skeleton just a lot more muscle and brains.

Its worth the extra but if ya wait a bit VZW will prolly do a BOGO or something close

Just give it till the end of summer and the price will be some where in the 150 after they're stupid mail rebates that you never get in the mail, even though you send off "all the correct" information that the store cleark told this is all you need and then you end up getting a letter in the mail saying you didn't send in the required information. When you know you sent it ALL the stuff.

I find verizon to be the biggest POS company when it comes to there rebate program.

Rebates arrived, but...

Of course the rebates are the lame prepaid debit cards that don't work at half the places you try to use them. However, you can do a transfer to get the money into you bank account.
We sent all the info for our two Eris' via registered mail with delivery confirmation, just to force the issue.

I like that. I went to best buy to get my Eris. They do not do mail in rebates and they match and beat what Verizon wireless offers. Verizon was selling the eris for 79, Bestbuy was selling it for free.

Thanks for the responses. I also enjoyed the rants. I have never used their (not there) mail in rebate program so I had no idea. I do enjoy their coverage and customer service; though, mail in rebates should fall within customer service. nkwebb140, judasmachine, o2bnclemson, you've been very helpful. Is the trackball helpful/necessary? My wife has the Eris. When I have it the only time I use the trackball is when I take a picture.

This isn't even a question. Incredible all the way!

The Incredible has the fastest, newest mobile processor currently available and the latest version of Android. The Eris is slower and running a much older version of Android with a smaller screen.

like other posted said, incredible is Eris on some major roids. some of us have rooted our phones and can just about get same performance as incredible but with a smaller screen. if ya have the cash of course get incredible. its an extremely sick phone. but if you want a similar experience without the juice and want to save a few bucks ,go with Eris. BTW, not sure if you know but Eris being discontinued...

I'd say definitely the Incredible. I don't know about you, but I would want at least the chance of getting updated Android OS releases on a phone that I bought today, and I think that it is far more likely that the Incredible will get later Android releases than the Eris will (my guess is that HTC and Verizon bring the Eris to 2.1 and that's it.)

If the Droid wasn't so heavy and thick and didn't have the crap keyboard back in December, I would have bought the Droid, no doubt. For me thin and more pocketable was more important to me.

But, you should have the ability after the 29th to go in to a Verizon Wireless store and actually try both out and decide for yourself.

sticking with the eris for now, many of the same features, but the 1ghz, if the incredible had updated FLASH!!!! then would be hands down, but by the time flash comes out for its so we can stream videos, there will be a new phone out by then....

I am sorry but even though they are the same form factor the Incredible is way better than the eris. The price is different because the Eris has been out a lot longer and the Eris is less of a phone than the incredible

Wifey has the Eris and loves it. I've suggested upgrading but she likes the smaller form factor and the screen works for her.

No problems with it here...

I really like my Eris . It'll be great on 2.1 but the Incredible will still be better simply cuz it has better hardware !

Had the Eris....

I just returned my Eris to get the Incredible. There were just too many shortfalls to keep it. Like everyone has said here, the Incredible is an upgrade in every way.

Personally, I can justify the cost because of how much I used my Eris. It's amazing how much potential there is in these little phones. I use it more than enough to justify $200+.

BTW, I got the one year contract. Since we're in the dawn of android phones still, two year contracts were OK for flip phones 5 years ago...but you can't afford to be on one now. As awesome as this phone is, you know something will be out in 6 months that is way better.

I've got an upgrade coming in May ( my mom's company is making her use the company blackberry... moment of silence... but that allowed me to use her upgrade in Dec.) Personally, there hasn't been enough of a change from the Eris to the Incredible to make me want to use my upgrade yet-- i know it's faster, but my Eris has never been slow, and with even the slightest hope of a 2.1 upgrade coming around soon - i can't justify the change.

Also: I know this is the phone market we're talking about, and if i wait around for a couple more months i know there will be a Droid AmazingAwesomeCrazyness coming out and i'll want to upgrade to that.

Either way - you're getting a great phone.

I'm verklempt about this now too. I have the 2.1v3 Eris, which I love, but the Incredible is hands-down better in the hardware dept. The only question is, is it worth $200...I'm leaning toward yes.

No, it is not worth $200. If you can wait a little longer the price will drop to something more reasonable. I'm sure the Incredible is a great phone but why not get it for a better price.
