Error 404 downloading from the Play Store

404 on the internet (wifi or mobile data) says "page not found". If it happens on a system like Google's Play servers, I'd suspect the local Play server (Google maintains many servers around the world for the same service). I've used play a few times already today (updated a few apps). About the only thing possible might be to try resetting your DNS servers. Use wifi, but set the address manually. (Long-press the connection, then check Advanced.) Use the same IP address it shows, but change the DNS addresses to 8.8.8.8 for the first one and 8.8.4.4 for the second one. Their DNS server should have the correct address for their Play server. (I use those addresses on all my devices, so maybe that's why I'[m not having any problems.)

I've tried changing the primary and secondary DNS for my wifi but it still gave me an error 404. I've also tried using an app (DNset) to change my DNs, but although I don't have the error, it still doesn't download.

My mate 10(Chinese version) has the exact same problem start from yesterday. Yesterday evening I can update via a VPN, but now VPN also doesn't work.

Exactly the same issue except the my device is mate9. I have re-installed the Google Play Store and Google Play Services and I also tried factory reset but that fixing attempts are not worked.

it looks like Google just changed it's Google play service, and some phone didn't catch this up?
and the phone from HuaWei hit the most

I have Mate 9 as well, uninstalled and reinstalled everything, did factory reset and I'm still getting this error... I wonder when this will be fixed

I'm having the same problem. I've even factory reset my phone, but the 404 error still persists when trying to download from the play store.

And I have same problem for the second time with my Honor V10!!. In the past 2 weeks. first factory reset helped but the second time i have the same error code when i try to download from Google Play. I have tried everything i could find about this in the internet but no solution.

Hi, I have a Huawei P10 and this exact issue happened to me today. I tried restarting my device, clearing cache and data removing and adding my google account to the play store, and nothing has worked. I can't update or download any new apps and I keep getting an error 404

I have the same problem, can't even update or download the apps on Huawei Mate 9 (Chinese Version) keep getting error 404

Hey Guys and Gals, did anyone find any solution for this issue? It seems that only Huawei Chinese Version are being affected byt this error.

Hi all! Same issue. My problem happened yesterday. I 'm using Note5 N9200 Hongkong version. I contacted for google support but they don't respond. I flash Rom for my phones but still there. I think this problem happens with Chinese devices and It 's google 's issue.

That's ridiculous!!!!
Anyway, if you need to update an app before Google fix this issue, you can use apkmirror and do manually.

I think this is about the news that US would completely ban the brands in China. I encounter the same issue as well, and old method installing GMS won't help. So even the service is up to date, Google service does not work on the phone anymore. BUT, please anyone let us know the truth. Thank you.

Seems like the problem is with the devices bought from china.. :(
