Error: Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card

the thing is... i delete everything off my phone... wich made a total of 30 Mb and im trying to download an app of 2 Mb

I think you'd have to try clearing the system cache partition. Instructions for that are on a sticky post. Good luck.

i get the same msg on my HTC desire x, so its not samsung only :P - if you go to settings-> storage -> unmount SD card
then install the app
then mount SD card again.

it works :)

it is a pain that you may potentially have to do this every time the error msg pops up, but its better that it not working at all... right?

thank you for so simply solving months of frustration for me!!

Believe it our not. But this kid actually fixed my problem. To delete uninstalled apps go to your play store, settings, my apps, all, and start clicking the "x". Had a lot on my list. To bad I didn't read the kids option before deleting apps. Thanks kid

Rachel was right. Unmounting the sd card allows the app to be installed. Sony T3 D5103.

I have an Alcatel One Touch, and I'm having this issue as well, but it's with updating an app. I have tried everything listed here, including ASTRO and Root Locator, unmounting the SD card doesn't work because the app is located on the SD card and it would just install another copy to my phone's internal memory. I also did as one person here suggested and deleted the uninstalled apps from Google Play. I'm still having this issue. I have more than enough memory on my SD card to update, as well as internal memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated^^

I had the same problem today, but I fixed it. Maybe this doesn't apply to you, but I hope it can help someone.
I'm using Kitkat 4.4.2, korean phone, Note 2 and rooted.

I used ROM toolbox, went into App Manager
tried many services (switching on and off, one by one)
I found the system app called "Application installer", went in the "advanced freeze" option and enabled "PreloadInstallerActivity"

after that, I tried downloading and installing the app again from google play and it worked.

I'm sure this may not be similar to your problem, but this was how I solved mine. Hope this helps.

Help me!

I have tried everything on this list and nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas? I am using a lenovo ideatab a4000-f.
