Everything is getting an update but the EVO 4G

If I needed GB, then I'd like to have it, but mine works fine on Froyo, which is what it was designed to run on. I'll take a new version of sense though if it doesn't slow the phone down.

If we are not getting an upgrade, how can Sprint justify charging me $10 extra a month for a "premium" phone? What would be "premium" about it? You can't just say "smartphone" because I pay for that with a data plan. And it can't be "4G" because they claim time and time again we are not paying $10 for the 4G.

So, if they don't upgrade the EVO, and they do upgrade other phones, I would consider the EVO to no longer be "premium".

I believe a letter was sent out from Sprint a few months ago that the $10/month charge is no longer just a "premium phone" charge or whatever they called it, but not a "smart phone" charge.

You would be paying this if you switched to a 3G Blackberry, FWIW.

It's a Premium DATA charge. Smartphone users use twice the data or more (typically) of other phone users.

If you haven't yet... SPB Shell 3D is the UI to use - alongside the (gingerbread keyboard) which pretty much gives me_gingerbread plus a mixture of EVO 3D.

Totally awesome. :-D

????? why???

what is better?

Verizon, Galaxy S2, iPhone

I love the Evo but HTC and Sprint will never get a cent out of me for the 3D nor will I ever buy another HTC devices unless they release a device that "works" properly.

That's why I went to the nexus s, the screen is worth it alone. Not to mention I can use without fear that the battery is going to die. I'm not knocking the evo its just old news.

so you think... galaxy s2 and iphone.. dont have upgrade issues? they will be perpetually upgraded instantaneously as new OS are released?

I see deep disappointment in your future......

The only thing I'm disappointed in is... the fact that the EVO 4G has got to wait until the EVO 3D launches before getting gingerbread. I really think that's not the best move they make.

Do you think it make a difference if the EVO 4G gets gingerbread either before or after the launch of the htc EVO 3D?

I have my reasons concerning Sprint and HTC which is why I will not get the Evo 3D

that is cool.. we all have our own reasons.. and that is OK.

but your original statement ... read like you found a solution fo upgrade issues by going to verizon, gs2, or iphone.

Well iPhone isn't spread on a thousand devices. Plus, GS2 looked sweet.

Man, if there's one thing Samsung is known for it's timely updates. lol

It's not like GS1 needed the update or anything

why dont you just root and run a custom rom like CM7 nightlies if you want to be on the cutting edge...running GB 2.3.4, latest nighly build 80

HTC and Sprint arent magicians, they have a team of engineers and software writers that make these updates and the Evo isnt the only phone that they have to upgrade. Only so much can be done, especially if you look at how many HTC devices are in consumer hands.

If you ask me, HTC always has a great track record for update schedules.

As for being mad at sprint for not getting an update, they dont do much in terms of updates except test and add bloat, then test some more.
Compare the amount of updates HTC has crafted Vs. Samsung/Moto/LG added together, id say we're in good hands.

If you really want updates as fast as possible, and you feel up to it, then rooting and installing CyanogenMod is your only option.

It's not like GS1 needed the update or anything

2.1 Vs 2.2 on the Gs line of phones is not even a competition. 2.2 has at least doubled the performance of those devices...

Also, what doesnt work on our evo's? You said you wanted a device that "works".

I wanted to root, but it's so difficult and easy to brick your phone and it's hard enough as is getting a replacement. I've jailbroken my old iTouch and rooted a Palm Pre, but there's so many steps and processes for Android that I never bothered. Plus like I said before, the risk is too high for me. Plus, I don't even know what a ROM is.

And I always thought the Galaxy S phones were good enough as they were at the time.
