Everything Odin

Which one of the videos
I was following the video instructions listed in DroidXcon's sig for using Odin. I had no problems getting the phone into download mode but it just stays stuck on "Do not turn off Target!!!" Odin just says this:

<ID:0/006> Added!!
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/006> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!

Running Odin as admin I have tried this over and over and keep getting stuck in the same place. I've searched all over for an answer for the past few hours and have come up with nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you removed sim and sd card. Removed and put back the battery

Yes. I followed the instructions to a "T". After putting the battery back in I opened up Odin as Admin, then held down +&- and plugged in the usb cable. Odin recognizes the phone and I hit start. Now it just sits there stuck like I explained in my previous post.

Sorry for the slow responses I'm writhing at lights and stop signs..Is that eclair one click or froyo

Downloading Odin 2.2 as I type this. My goal in the end is to get the latest Cog rom on my phone. Do you suggest I keep following the directions in the video or is there another route I should take?

Ok I reinstalled the drivers, (which took forever for some reason) but it looks like Odin worked now. Thanks a ton for your help. I should have known it was going to be something as obvious is that. Now I just hope the rest of this process goes well.

Any time man, yeah its always something that just is staring us in the face... listen quick tip make sure you dont restore all system data if you restore with titanium....just missing apps + data.. otherwise cog. will bug out into a FC loop in a couple hours, even though things look good.. it doesnt take 2.1 system data well

Odin and Swapping Roms

I recently rooted my phone and installed a nice Froyo rom (-ROM- Dorian's UGJK3 FroYo - Gingerbread Edition) on my Captivate. My question is, if I would like to try another rom, such as Cognition, would I need to go through the process of wiping with Odin first before installing the second Rom? I don't have regular access to a PC right now and it would be a PITA to try and get Odin/Android SDK set up if I could just use something like ROM Manager to install the new Rom. Thanks.

you don't have to... you can just flash with cwm. But for best results you should start clean

Ok I am going to do a ROM not sure which to use. But so far I have removed the Ryan OCLF and went back to stock. I did it in order and removed the OCLF then the EXT-2 then removed the Root. Then in applications removed the OCLF.
Now I went and used the One Click to root that is in the Odin video. I am back to being rooted. I have Titanium Backup from before on my phone and the computer. I also have ROM Manager installed. I did the Clockwork thing and then made a backup of my ROM. From what I understand I will use Odin to flash to an original ROM? I have Odin on my computer and made a Backup folder on my desktop.
Now I have my original ROM with the 2.1 update from ATT. I have not done any custom ROMS yet so is it necessary to Download the Odin ROM?

Now I am torn between Cognition and the ATT Froyo from Europe with all the Bloat ware. I have been reading all this stuff for months and decided to Flash a ROM 2 days ago. What should I try Froyo 2.1 or 2.2 and are these Cognition ROMS?I am getting confused what is what. Then do I have to use a Lag fix like voodoo with these ROMS or is a lag fix included?

Then I am wondering about the different Kernel from one of the other threads here. I guess those fine tune battery life?

Anyway before I proceed I am still at my stock ROM
I897UCJH7 Baseband

2.1-update1 Firmware version

2.6.29 jetaek@sep-11#2 Kernel version

EclairUCJH7 Build number

All backedup with Titanium and on my phone sd card and computer has and update.zip file and the original file.

Recommendations Please for next step. I have not tried to see if Odin works yet.

Edited
I just watched the SDK video and downloaded the app. Works fine but it did take a couple of tries. I also loaded the Droid Explorer. I hope I do not conflict with the SDK package for the other app.
