Evo 3D Software Update August 18

Well folks it looks like permatemproot doesnt work anymore after the update. I tried both the temproot and permatemproot batch files and I cant get it to temproot now. Oh well hopefully the maker of the program can get this fixed.

HTC unlocked the bootloader. Could this have an impact on any rooting applications?

From what I've been reading, HTC's unlock is still S-on rather than S-off so not sure what good it even is. Check the rooting portion of the EVO 3D forum for more info on rooting.

Also I havent noticed any sound fix for the low sound issue. Some people say they noticed a little change but I sure didnt. This update is a software update and not a firmware so maybe it will get fixed with the flash. Any thoughts on that?

Ok, either I'm going nuts or HTC removed the shutter sound setting from the camera. I was playing around with testing the green hue and figured I'd reset all settings first. Suddenly my shutter sound, that I know was off before, is back. I go into settings and can't find where to shut that noise off. Anyone else notice this? Am I having a serious brain lapse where the setting was located????

Ug, the fake focus noise is back too when you tap the screen.

Just got my update this morning. So far so good. I hardly ever use my phone to actually talk on the phone so I can't comment on the volume!

anyone else having camera shutter sound issues? on silent before it wouldnt make a noise before,now no matter what it does?

the camera seems to be washing everything out with the flash even worse too :/

This was the first thing that I noticed with the update. I find myself decreasing the volume on most of my calls. Thats something that I NEVER did before the update.

Looks like the option to change the shutter sound on the stock camera is gone. So I guess whatever setting you had it on prior to the update is permanent (for now)? Would explain why some people are hearing the sound and some aren't.

Mine was off, but as soon as I did a reset to defaults in the camera settings, it is back and there is no way to get rid of it that anyone has found. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the shutter, but the autofocus makes noise now too. So much for getting pictures of any animals or small children without them moving.

I have noticed a quite click sound when taking photos, not the louder shutter noise prior to the update.
Also, I don't know if this happened before, but the volume buttons zooms the camera in and out.

exactly.and it wouldnt be bad if it wasnt REALLY loud too.it woke up my 9 month old from a dead sleep when tried to get a picture of the cat cuddled up with her :/

My phone has been off the charger for 13 hours and 30 minutes and I still have 66 battery left.
Granted, I have been in places with wifi for most of my day, but still, that's insane. I think the update has something to do with it as well.

I didn't even look until I read your post. I have been OC 15 hours now and have over 60% battery life left. There have been some nice hidden gems with this update.

Moderate. No WiFi...been at work until very late.

Fwiw haven't noticed a difference in battery life. No better, no worse.
