Anyone planing to replace Galaxy S II from EVO 3D ?
Affordable way to get Sprint Epic 4G touch on my existing number ?

I am thinking of doing it. But i need to get my hands on an active working one first and get a feel for it before i make the commitment. I miss my EPIC 4G. But the 3D is not giving me any problems either.

The two biggest reasons why I won't switch are the screen resolution and touch whiz. Not sure why Samsung didn't go all out with a qhd display. What's enticing? The screen...even bigger must be better, and of course the blackest blacks and most saturated colors. Aside from that, I read in some reviews that dropping calls and call volume/clarity are not a problem and that the battery life seems good as well.

Ahhh...decisisons, decisions..... I am sticking with my Evo 3d though until something comes out that is just head over heels, balls to the wall better than it...I am talking a step like going from a HTC Hero to the 3d!

I took the plunge today from the 3d. So far so good! The speaker and camera quality bugged me most about the 3d. Not regretting my decision so far. Call quality and all radios are superb thus far

I had to upgrade a few weeks ago since I had a non-working Pre- and no insurance and was upgrade eligdable. I picked up with EVO 3D with the mindset that I would probably exchange it for the Epic 4G Touch the name is long...whatever.

Luckily I am a silver member at Best Buy and have 45 days to do whatever I want.

Went over to Best Buy today with the thought of exchanging for the new phone but played with it and I was not impressed at all.

Yes the screen is big and looks good.. sometimes. Seriously the original look of the phone as far as menus looks like they made it for a little kid or an old person. I don't know how else to explain it. I know this can be fixed with custom roms, but it was a bad first impression.

It didn't seem smooth flicking through the screens and opening widgets didnt seem nearly as smooth as my EVO 3D. It really seems like it is slower.

I just had a negative feeling when playing with it and I am still wondering if it is because I am use to Sense or what.

Anyone else have a 3D and checked out the Epic 4G Touch?

Played with the samsung today...very impressive. I'm worried tho...
Build quality isn't stellar. Samsung sucks at updates. Touchwiz is a distant second to sense.
But that screen...drool......and I absolutely love the size and thin form factor.
No decision yet...

I played with it today. Love the thin form factor but it's not enough to make me switch.
And touchwiz is just not my cup of tea at all. Love sense.
I'm staying 3D for a while.

I've just been reading the SGS2 forums and no complaints on reception or GPS , in fact everybody seems pretty impressed so far. Hopefully Sammy has finally got it together in that department and we'll all have more options in the future. Have fun with your new toy!! :D

Honestly i find touch wiz a little refreshing after using sense for well over a year. Love sense, but kind of felt like i was still using the Evo 4G when i had the 3D. All great phones

I took the plunge Friday morning. Best decsision I have made. Don't get me wrong, the 3D is a great phone, but it really wasn't as big of a jump coming from the EVO 4G as I had thought it would have been. The screen is gorgeous compared to the 3D, even with the screen res being lower. Text on web pages is very crisp, but again, you don't get as much to display. Everything I throw at this phone runs super smooth. I loved Sense, but one of the 1st things I would do is ditch it since it is such a memory hog. The GPS is very quick and very accurate compared to the original Galaxy phones. Even in my basement, it'll get a pretty good lock and usually within 3-5 seconds. As soon as I picked up the EpTouch and left the store, I called my wife, and she thought I was on a landline. She says it definitely sounds 100% better than the 3D did. Places where my 3D would drop calls (which my 4G never did), the EpTouch doesn't bat an eye. The phone is a little bit wider and taller, but were talking mm's here, and it makes that up in that it is a lot thinner. It weighs substantially less, and in fact, less than the Nexus S 4G. I got pretty decent battery life with the 3D, UNTIL I turned on bluetooth and started using the headset. HTC really needs to go back to the drawing boards when it comes to bluetooth stacks and drivers! There is no reason why it should suck the battery like a vampire. On the EpTouch, much better battery life, especially when using bluetooth!

I've always preferred HTC to other brands, but this time, Samsung has hit a homerun! People complain that the build quality feels cheap, but I personally think it feels fine. I have heard no creaks while holding and handling the phone, and see no flex. I think a lot of people just like to see shiny chrome plastic, then think its built more durable... TouchWiz isn't really all that bad, and I have been using it pretty solid the last couple of days. My favorite launcher is GO Launcher EX, but I am trying out TW for now...

My exact sentiments. Love HTC' spent 2 year with them. This is by far, the best phone experience I've ever had

Agree, I checked one out yesterday and it ain't enough for me to leave HTC. If that happens, switching to a plastic Samsung, it will take the rumored Prime.

Great post! I still think I will be keeping my E3D! I went to see if i could find a sg2 locally and no luck. I have not gone to the Sprint store yet. Maybe this week if i got time! :)

Rocking the HTC EVO 3D

Went to best buy and bought full retail price, they will price match with Sprint fyi. I too had always remained faithful to HTC but this epic trumps my evo 3d mainly for 2 reasons. First the camera is like night and day, and second I actually prefer the resolution on the epic
touch mainly because the higher res of the evo 3d it shrinks SwiftKey's keyboard which I swear by.

I won't buy another Samsung phone until they establish a track record of supporting software updates aside from bug fixes after initial release.

I looked at the GS2 and it's sweet, but I'll give them a year or so to see if they improve radio and support issues before I would consider buying a Sammy. My E3D is pretty much flawless so far, I'll be keeping it!! :D

I can not agree more with you on this issue. my EVO3D is also almost flawless too.

Took the plunge. I really like it. Not the same polish as sense has...but none of the really annoying glitches and bugs I had with the four evo 3d's I went thru. screen is amazing too...and the camera...WOW.
Htc...get it together...I'll come back.
