EVO 3D to Galaxy S II

I'm sorry to hear that about Boe. Rev B looks like a dead end right now. I been sniffen around for Network Vision info, nothing but speculation. The Oct 7th announcement is not to far away now.

My 4g has been working in places the last week or so that it previously didn't work, and better signal in the places it did work. I was kinda leery of using 4G because of the battery sucking stories but I'm finding it uses less battery than 3G. Life is getting better all the time around here!!

Funny you should say that because after the Great PRL Fiasco of 2011 I have noticed that I am enjoying much improved 3G and 4G coverage and speed. I actually get 4G in my house! I don't know if it specifically is related to the Vision rollout but whatever it is, I'm happy with it! :D

I made the switch, and I do not miss my evo 3d. I prefer the lighter weight, the better camera, and the bigger screen. I've had no issues, so far.

My 3G is working about the same as it has for the last 2 years, after the 50580 shenanigans, which is pretty good. My 4g has improved a lot. :D How's your battery life on 4G? I'm getting better battery life on 4G than 3G. Seems like all I've read for the last year is what a battery hog 4G is, color me confused!!

Right now I'm lovin my E3D and wouldn't trade it for anything out right now. :D :D :D *Good Times*

I played with one last week. Pretty awesome phone!

Is it a great time to be a gadget geek or what???

The combination of larger screen + lower resolution just wouldn't work for me. I don't see anything else in the SGS2 that would be enough of a step up to warrant purchasing another new phone at this point.

My battery life on 4G is pretty good. The only time I run into a problem with it is if it is on and scans for 4G service where there is none. Thankfully I am in 4G coverage areas most of the time so that doesn't happen too often.

Great post, we are all different thats why we have different android phones to chose from. What kills me though is when someone jumps ship and then talks **** about how much faster it is compared to the evo etc... Anyway I checked out the sgs2e4gt(I couldn't type all that, LOL) and its a great looking phone, but it didn't feel any faster than my evo 3d as far as opening and closing apps, scrolling, web browsing, etc... The camera is fantastic and it is definitely years ahead of the evo 3d's camera but other than that both phones are basically the same when it comes to real world usage. If the evo 3d never came out then the sgs2e4gt would have been a fantastic upgrade from my original evo but being that I already upgraded to the evo 3d it would take a phone with incredible beast specs for me to jump ship anytime soon.

Well said! I have both but feel identical.

I have been seriously considering making the switch. I love the speed of the Evo 3D and Sense 3.0, but I could care less about 3D. My Evo 3D has been anything but flawless. For starters my Evo View tablet keeps it GPS signal better, never lost GPS on View where it happens a couple of times a day on the 3D. I use the GPS all day as I do a lot of driving for work. Also the 3D on a regular basis will just hang on a webpage while I'm surfing. I bought the 3D for the hardware specs(sans 3D) and I love the phone despite of its little annoyances.

The thing that drives me nuts about the SGSII isn't so much the phone as it is the dummies reviewing it. Every single review talks about fast the phone is and how it smokes the E3D in all the benchmarks and then they start drooling over it's graphics performance compared to the snapdragon in the 3D and the Tegra 2. The Evo 3D and the Tegra 2 based phones all have higher resolution which makes it an uneven comparison. Gimme an SGSII with a QHD display and then tell me how much better the SGSII is than the Evo 3D.

hey Wiley,

sorry for the late reply. I've been so busy and couldn't post all the time.

I'm glad your 4G service is doing great for you. I know for a fact that Sprint has been updating lots of towers as of late and have said so in the past few weeks here. for some, it can be a bad trip to have a week or two of semi poor service. for most it has only been a few days. but in the end, it seems that for a few the speeds have gotten a lot better and reception has gotten a lot better.

but in your case of having better battery life then 3G? realy? that is so cool.
I live in a good 4G area. maybe not the best as I live right on the edge of the ocean and so I'm not personaly sorounded by towers. I also work part time just a few blocks away from home so again, not the best for 4G service. yet when outside of work and home, I do get great 4G service. bellow is a test I did by my livingroom window...

I would love to test just how good the battery on my phone is when using 4G service. it's just that I'm almost never outside other then to goto work. (I know, I'm like a hermit) yet maybe I'll try to spend a day at the park or something and give some feedback as to what the battery is like when 4G is turned on.
yet in the meantime I will remind all of you that the wonderful review from engadget gave the phone 14 hours with all the radios turned on. I'd love to hear what a SGS2 will do with such things like 4G and GPS turned on in a good 4G area.

oh my. I've been saying the same thing forever. yet you can't teach stupid. the reviewers will do and say anything to hype this phone, regardless that it is a great phone. you'll also never see anyone say "yeah, it has great blacks, but the whites are total garbage". total hype and not the full truth is what you'll get from most sites. that's why we all need to watch all the review videos and also test the phone for ourselfs and make a real truthful choice as to just what the phone in question is like.

I'm a first time android user. I've waited until now because I wanted a fast, lag free phone. the newer high end phones that are out now are what I call lag free or close to it. I'm not going to talk about your problem evo3d. but my evo3d is mostly problem free and so fast that I can't get it to lag. heck, the whole carosel effect that the phone does could not be done if it was laggy. I would almost say the same for the SGS2. but like you, I understand that any graphic test can not be compared due the the sammy being at a lower res.

with that said, I fully love LED better then LCD screens. but until next summer, I don't think I'll even think of getting a new phone. not even the new nexus from samsung. yet I could see me wanting a new SGS3 if it had a 720 screen or better. (sorry hTc fans, but I'm not going to avoid samsung just because I desided to not get one this year.)

As if dummies haven't reviewed other phones lmao. I like the objective ones, ya know... Measurable data. Long opinionated post are entertainment too. Totoly cool to update phones OP.

I agree, warpdrive. I am open to other devices in the future. I weigh all options and then make the best decision based on me and my needs. It just so happens that I chose HTC devices the last couple of times. When the time comes for me to upgrade I may very well choose a different brand depending on what is available and what features the devices have.

+1

I started out with the Evo 4G when it launched, then got the Evo 3D in June when it launched. I was excited to get the 3D because of the faster processor and more internal memory. After I got the 3D, I was disappointed with low call/speakerphone volume, small text which made the screen seem smaller, poor call quality, dropped calls, green pics when using flash, screen going black and freezing just to name a few of the issues I had with the 3D. Even had some of the same issues with a replacement 3D. Yeah, the 3D was peppy but the internet still seemed a little sluggish. Overall, I wasn't as thrilled with the 3D like I was with the 4G. I have two lines and one line is elegible for an upgrade, so I decided to get the Samsung 4G Touch. Had played with it at the Sprint store and liked it. Now that I've had the phone for a week, I am very impressed with it. Am very impressed with the 3G speed, blows away my 3D on 3G! Internet processes almost instantly...I am like WOW! I am thrilled to use the internet on the 4G Touch. Call/speakerphone volume is loud! That's a treat. Everyone says I sound much better on the 4G Touch. I get better reception on the 4G Touch, no dropped calls yet. Wifi connects quickly and doesn't drop. Love, love, love the big text! The screen looks absolutely amazing, has beautiful vivid colors and sharp text. Apps open instantly and run well. The camera and camcorder are awesome! Soooo much better than the 3D. Video playback is fast and very smooth. Can you tell I like the phone? So much so, I am going to sell my other 3D and get another 4G Touch for my other line.

I find the "yes but" reviews comical at times - As many that say the Galaxy is faster and better than the 3D there are the same to say visa versa.

I too have now had the privilege to use both (for at least 10 days), both have their strong suits and weak ones - Heavy, light, sturdy, squeaky, camera, speaker, etc.. I experienced NO drop calls or dissatisfaction with 3G on either.

I am happier with the HTC, for reason like easier to toggle 4G on/off, sense seems smother, I prefer a heavier device .....

Both are great devices, neither is perfect - It REALLY comes down to personal preference.

I get personal preference, but bologna on he 4G toggle. Pull down notification bar from any screen and the toggle is right there.

~will work for food~

Here goes another of my replies about to be removed haha .... From a girls standpoint and my OPINION just think that the GS2 is a total chic phone , the cartoonish icons , "pretty colors of the screen " the interface etc etc ... I have yet to see a guy walk in my store and ask for a GS2 ...many come in play with the display and walk out or ask about the Evo 3D and honestly most sold were to girls coming from iphones ....that's just my experience with my store and my opinion. Same can be said about me carrying a 3d a very masculine phone, industrial, sturdy and solid very masculine .... Some phones are obviously aimed at certain sex , like that HTC Rhyme or whatever its called with the flashing cube, its just a matter of time before I see a guy with the cube hanging out of his back pocket insisting pink is punk. But yea my opinion the GS2 is a chicky phone.

Waiting for my post to be removed.......

I never found a widget, which is on the 3D - So enjoy your bologna :-) Widget as opposed to pull down... guess that supports the personal preference theory!
