EVO 3D to iPhone 5/4S

I've never really understood it either, no more than I understand why people who like the Photon or SGS2 feel the need to undermine the choice of those of us who happen to like the EVO 3D.

I just don't understand the Android vs Apple rivalry. Why can't you just like them both and admit that both are incredible?

honestly for me at this point, I don't find android to be incredible. I find it to be a huge pain in the rear and incredibly unstable. but that's just me. I find that iOS is stable, more secure, much less of a pain in the rear, and is a better fit for me. I don't necessarily expect anyone to feel the way I do, but I won't keep my opinion to myself in order to keep others happy - not that anyone on here has asked me to do that, but still. I'm happy to be going to an iPhone and can't wait for the release....

All of Apple's products are very stable and secure which is pretty great. That was one of the main reasons I switched from Windows to a MacBook. I'm also happy to be getting my iPhone on Friday, but there are some only-Android features that I will miss.

Princess lets be for real. You want an iphone. Thats great. I have no beef with apple products, i own a mac server at home, an ipad2, ipod touch ipad, and im one of four teachers on my campus who works off an imac instead of a windows pc. Im nowhere near an apple hater so i can say this without being biased.
If the iphone is what you want, then thats fine, but you seriously dont have to justify why your jumping the android ship and burning the bridge on your way out. But "pain in the rear and unstable" should not be your excuse because you will come across problems with an ios product. there are a few times i had to hard reset my ipad and ipod touch for no apparent reason. One time my ipod touch would not even turn on, i was about to send it to apple, until i plugged it in to my pc and did the hard reset to it. IOS is not perfect and i wish everyone stop preaching that. It is great and simplistic though, and the best OS for non tech people.
My wife loves her ipad 2, but i ask her if she is considering getting the iphone 4s over her evo shift, and she could care less if she switched or not. But it is all about personal preferences and i really hope you enjoy it, because it is all about what you want and what you will be happy with.

also please do post your impressions, because i know my niece will be begging me for this phone next year. And if she stays on the deans list, i have no choice but to give this to her for her birthday.

I will come back and post my impressions - I am excited - and to be honest, when I got my first Android phone, I was excited then too. But my excitement soon waned due to all of the issues I've had with Android as a whole - my experience went something like this:

Samsung Moment -----> HTC EVO 4G ----->Samsung Nexus S 4G ---------> HTC EVO 3D

the best of the bunch of these I guess would honestly be the EVO 3D then the EVO 4G - I HATED the other two. But that's me. But even while I've enjoyed the phones somewhat, I've had too many issues with them to be truly happy with Android.

I'm not a "fangirl" by any means - I only have an iPod besides my upcoming iPhone 4S - I may in time switch to other Apple products, but for the moment, I'm ok with what I've got.

And I hope your niece stays on the Dean's List! That's an AWESOME accomplishment and you should be proud! :)

I'll make sure to post my impressions after I've played with mine a little; just 5 more days I can't wait. And just a warning, my review may be a bit biased because I have been an Apple fan since I can remember.

The 4S is going to be a hot phone. But it doesn't seem like a two year phone to me. That would be the thing that I worry about. I think that the EVO 3D is a two year phone. And while it may not be obvious now, I think in a year you will start to see the separation between the two phones and platforms.

I still am not understanding this comparison. If you are considering the jump you didn't want the Evo in the first place. iPhones work well and have good finish. I find them very boring and small. I see Apple keeping the iPhone small so that one feels the need to have an iPhone and an iPad. Really I guess a lot of people would have both just because. I am not an Apple hater as I love my Macs, but I much prefer the Android platform.

To be honest, no I never did want the EVO 3D at this point in time. I already knew that I was going to get an iPhone when it was announced and I was simply waiting on the announcement. However, I hated the Nexus S 4G enough that the EVO 3D was a relief to me. I still want the 4S and I still think it's something I'll keep for 2 years. I may not, I'm notorious for only keeping phones 6 months because I get bored easily. But I think the iPhone will be different - I know I kept my original EVO 4G for almost a year before it broke, so we'll see.

Honestly, I think the size of the iPhone is likely to remain what it is or very close, if only because many people believe that the 4.0" and 4.3" screens are just TOO big. But it's all about personal preference honestly.

I definitely agree with your point on screen size. People with small hands have a lot of trouble with phones that have big screens. Also, I don't see the iPhone increasing screen size while the iPad is around. And let's face it, the iPad is going to be around for a very long time.

Princess,

I agree that it is all about what feels right to each person.

The Readers Choice Awards in August found that Only 9% Want a Screen Under 4".

You are in that 9% with small fingers or for other reasons want a small display. Apple makes one product that fortunately for you is exactly your size.

actually, I have big fingers and wouldn't mind the 4" display - I just prefer the iOS and the Apple system as a whole at this point in time. Android and I have not had a great relationship to say the least.

So how much do you want for your EVO 3D? ;)

I posted it on the Marketplace for $250 I think, plus shipping. It's still available - I've had several inquiries but no one has paid me yet :)

That is why Apple is geared to those that want a simple to use phone. Although it is locked and limited, it does run smooth, but my brother has a iPhone and it has had issues with locking up, button not working and needs plugged into PC to be reset and software downloaded from iTunes.

I would consider one myself if it ran Flash, had a SD slot, wasn't so reliant on iTunes and a removable battery, until then, they are a throw away phone to me!

The iPhone 4S will be outdated in a year or less. ready for the next one to come out, of which is already known. My 3D will be just starting to get outdated when my contract runs out, look at the EVO 4G?

People should definitely have a device that makes them happy, no matter what anyone else's opinion is. You sound a lot like me in that you appear to enjoy a challenge and change phones fairly frequently. That is what concerns me about the iPhone. I root and mod every phone I get. I liked the EVO 3D as it is and had said I wasn't going to root it. Of course, I ended up doing it less than a month after I got it, which is a record for me, plus I had to pay off a bet with my husband by treating him to Red Lobster ;) The thing is, if one gets bored easily I'm not sure the iPhone would be the way to go. You pretty much get what they give you, and even jailbreaking doesn't allow you the control that rooting an Android device does. For me personally, I would probably be bored with it within a couple of days. Again, that's jmho.

I do hope you enjoy your iPhone and who knows... it may be a match made in heaven :)
