EVO 3D to iPhone 5/4S

I definitely agree with your point on screen size. People with small hands have a lot of trouble with phones that have big screens. Also, I don't see the iPhone increasing screen size while the iPad is around. And let's face it, the iPad is going to be around for a very long time.

I have big hands and I like the screen size of the iPhone. I think that a lot of the newer devices are getting to an area of being too big. I like my phone to feel comfortable in my hand. I also would like to be able to use my phone with one hand. That becomes difficult with a super large screen. I have also found that my typing has suffered as the screen size of the phone has gotten bigger. I would have thought it would be the other way around so go figure. Plus, the iPhone fits comfortably in my shirt pocket. The size of the phone is perfect to me.

Sorry but just because a phone fits better in my hands doesn't make it better. But the iPhone is a great phone. I used the 4s for several days but decided to go back to my 3d and wait for the newest htc lte phone next year when I'm eligible in June. My wife may get the iPhone but for be I like to have choices.

Has iOS enabled you to assign an mp3 as a ringtone yet...? Without a computer and iTunes I mean... And lol @ all the Siri won't be released till Spring comments, how silly do you feel now?

People should definitely have a device that makes them happy, no matter what anyone else's opinion is. You sound a lot like me in that you appear to enjoy a challenge and change phones fairly frequently. That is what concerns me about the iPhone. I root and mod every phone I get. I liked the EVO 3D as it is and had said I wasn't going to root it. Of course, I ended up doing it less than a month after I got it, which is a record for me, plus I had to pay off a bet with my husband by treating him to Red Lobster ;) The thing is, if one gets bored easily I'm not sure the iPhone would be the way to go. You pretty much get what they give you, and even jailbreaking doesn't allow you the control that rooting an Android device does. For me personally, I would probably be bored with it within a couple of days. Again, that's jmho.

I do hope you enjoy your iPhone and who knows... it may be a match made in heaven :)

I don't mind switching phones frequently - however, I'd rather have something and stick with it than change in all honesty.

As for rooting/jailbreaking - I HATE the idea that I have to root an android phone to get it to work the way it should work - in terms of battery life, stability, etc. There is none in android - at least none that I've found. My battery life was always craptastic, phone crashed repeatedly, and half the apps I wanted to use never worked because the weren't compatible with the specific android version my phone was running (whatever came from the last update from Sprint). My 3D was rooted because I bought it that way, and even then, it still locked up, had no battery life that was meaningful, and the apps halfway worked.

I've got my iPhone 4S and will be posting below this with my opinions and observations at this point (almost 3 weeks in). But I will say it loud and proud, that I'm happy with my choice and I WON'T be going back to android.

I said I'd come back and post my initial feedback on the 4S - so here it is.

As a whole, the phone is great. Stability isn't an issue - even when I haven't cleared out my recently used apps or restarted the phone in days. Phone doesn't crash on me randomly and the apps I've downloaded all work the way they were intended to.

I do wish the screen was a tiny bit bigger - maybe a 3.7in, but no larger than a 4in screen. I like the way it fits snugly in my hand (and I have big hands for a female) and the sleekness of the phone overall.

I purchased the 32gb model, but wishing I had purchased the 64gb model - not because I need the space (I really don't, I think I'm only using like 8GB right now), but just in case I end up doing more pictures and apps on it.

Siri is AWESOME! Love the smart and sassy personal assistant who never hesitates to put me in my place when I'm just trying to be stupid. Siri is a lot of fun and also quite useful. I can now text by talking, search the internet without having to type a letter, and search through my contacts and make relationships so I don't have to search my contacts every time I want to call my sister.

iCloud and the iPhone were trouble spots for me - particularly when it came to my calendar - since currently, iCloud and google calendars don't sync. I got it figured out and solved, and now am happier than ever with my current calender - all using iCloud.

The app availablity has been awesome - I love the app access I have - the ability to find just about anything I want - something I wasn't always able to do in the Android App Store or Amazon App Store. My University has an iPhone App, but not an Android App for example, so I'm better tied into my graduate work than I was with an Android.

Overall, I know I made the best choice for ME - a choice I don't regret or intend to change. If I'm not upgrade eligible when the next phone comes out, I'll either stick with my 4S or have to budget to get the new one at full price.

I'm slowly becoming a convert to Apple - the seamlessness that Apple provides with their products, the reliability and the stability mean a lot to me - thus - that seems to be the way I'm heading. I've enjoyed Windows and the Android experience - but I'm ready for the experience that Apple is providing.

I am glad you are liking your iPhone. You are the one who has to use it so of course you should get what you like. :)

As for rooting, I don't do it to make my phone work better per se. I actually have liked all of my Android devices out of the box. I root so I can add different themes and hacks (yes, like the hotspot) and am liable to install several ROMs in a week just to play around. It is like having a new phone all the time.

Apple definitely has a good thing going in that their vertical integration ensures a consistent product. This is a plus in that the os and devices work well together, but it also comes with the price of limitations. Lol, and the price as in cost because Apple products are generally more expensive. With the higher end devices there isn't much of a difference but with Android, you can have that experience without the high price tag. One thing that is a dealbreaker for me is that the iPhone has no removable storage. I do use dropbox and Photobucket and I know both Apple and Google offer cloud services but I am one of those people who changes out her sd card quite often.

Again, it is all about choices and what works best for you. Enjoy your new toy! We'll still be here if you decide to come back ;)

Sounds to me that your problems had absolutely nothing to do with Android.
This seems to me that you had a bad HTC phone.

I don't have any of the problems that you describe. All of my apps work great. I'm able to find anything I want and it all works well on my phone. I don't type anything, I use voice to text or swipe for everything....even web searches. If your school had Android instead of an Apple app, then who would you blame, apple? Come on now.

My point is, comparing a broken second hand phone to a working phone is silly. Blaming Android for your broken phone is even more silly

I guess I missed something. I didn't realize that she was basing her opinion on a bad used phone. I guess I'd better go back and read and pay closer attention.

Fwiw I haven't had any problems whatsoever with any of my Android devices. Sure, I had questions about some things, but that is why I come here :)

my son would know better then to ask for an apple product.

Lol, actually my son has changed his mind. He does have an iPod and likes it but when he tried out an iPhone at the Sprint store and messed around with one that a friend of his owns, he decided he likes the EVO 3D and SGS2 better.

SIRI is coming out on the iPhone 4S. Don't know where you got a silly idea like that (that it's not coming out on the iPhone 4S). That was a big part of the keynote from Tuesday.

I will be switching to the iPhone 4S. Android is just too big a hassle for me. Have to root it to make it work right, have sucktastic battery life, open source has huge holes for phishing and more, iOS is SOOOOOO much more stable than anything Android, etc. I could keep going. I won't.

Before you accuse me of being a "fanboy" realize I'm not. I don't have everything Apple has ever made - I've got an iPod Nano (4th Gen)...and I've had previous iPods. But nothing else. But Apple impresses me, and I'd rather be on a stable platform and have security than be able to "customize" my phone - that takes too much time for me. Hell, I can't get the freaking stock ROM back on my EVO 3D that I got off a guy today because he was DYING for the POS Nexus S. I took it, I'll sell it, make more money on it than the Nexus S to put towards my iPhone.

If I cared about the huge screen - I'd just get an iPad.

Go ahead - bash me - I'm ready for it. But I'll be happy come next Friday and ya know what...That's all that matters to me - if I'M HAPPY...I don't care about making anyone else happy in terms of my phone choices.

Oh, I see now. Why on earth would you get a modded phone from someone, especially if you have no interest in modding to begin with? No wonder you aren't happy. There's no telling what that guy did to his phone and he probably wanted to get rid of it because he messed it up and couldn't fix it. This isn't even comparing apples to oranges... more like apples to dog poo.

Lol exactly! Stock Evo 3D kicks the crap out of the Nexus S every time!
