Now that we've seen what HTC's next-gen best is going to look like, any second-thoughts on the Bolt?

I'm on the fence. I love the Bolt, but dual core and gingerbread are mighty tempting. (I wouldn't trade LTE for WiMax ever, though)

Don't worry, they said it will come with a 100mAh battery.

more like a 1730mAh battery....
and Gingerbread

other than those, I'm not exactly crazy about the backside of it, it reminds me of an old cassette player. The other features like the dual core and 3D are gimmicks right now.

and with the announcement of LTE coming to my market this year, I'm just as more excited than i was when i first got my ThunderBolt, i am disappointed about not having a qHD screen on Tbolt though, wish screen was brighter :(

I sorta like the design of it. Not flashy, but stealthy and brutish. The only things I'd want from it is the qHD screen and the processor.

NCX i have posted three threads asking you where you read that the tbolt had MHL hdmi over usb? why wont you respond? you said it matter of factly and i would really like to know why.

also, it is almost my perfect phone minus the 3D. that is such BS. all i can say is why?what a waste of money to develop the 3D architecture and extra camera. take away the 3D and put in NFC, damn, i may switch ;)

I think its an ugly phone. That camera lens extension on the back is going to get the crap beat out of it. Its a neat idea but it starts making the handset like a toy instead of a tool, more of a gimmick as is the dual processor its only going to use more power and for what? Its a phone not a computer or a tablet. Now the one thing I find tasty is Gingerbread! YUM!

It's a great device but the gimmick of the 3D keeps the phone at the same thickness pretty much which I was shocked about. The camera lens stick out, no kickstand which was what made the Evo the Evo. I want a phone with those specs, 1 back camera and the same thickness as the Inspire for my next phone.

*Pretty much the HTC Pyramid :P

having been an Evo user (with minimal WiMax coverage in a rollout city for Sprint), i'd never give up LTE to go back to Sprint just for the phone. the WiMax coverage (where i am, Charlotte) is horrible. on Evo, last week, i had 1.5 down and about .5 up in my house (1 bar WiMax) and now on LTE i get 4 bars coverage with 12 down and 5 up. LTE>WiMax (in my area, at least)

and yeah, 3D is too much of a novelty at this point for me. i've no use for it. 3d smee-dee

the phone is tempting, but Gingerbread doesn't offer me anything too great to give up the TB. LTE network speed is keeping me on Verizon (that, and hopping on 'sharing a line' is saving me $50/month compared to my stand alone Sprint bill.

The Gingerbread option shouldn't matter. This phone isn't coming out until the "Summer". We are expected to get GB on our phone, much like the new IncS this June.

That's why I only signed a 1 year. By the time CES rolls around next year I'll be able to upgrade.

Lol I basically signed a 1 year contract since I paid the off contract price. I love my bolt but I gotta admit, this is just a stop gap phone for me. I'm waiting for the 4g,dual core, ice cream sandwich beast with HTC sense to be released next year. Lol but imo the bolt is the bat phone out eight now. I prefer it over every other phone. Bionic is ugly, EVO is on Sprint and 3d is a gimmick, iPhone is too small.

FINALLY sent from my HTC Thunderbolt

Its Sprint they only have Wimax. :D

Sprint is upping their WiMax speeds in case you haven't heard. Where I'm currently at Sprint pulls down at 18-19Mbps and upload at 4-5Mbps on their network. Yes, Verizon LTE is faster still, so don't get upset. Well, Verizon would be, but they aren't in this area and aren't expected to be until 2014?!?. Truthfully, there's not much of a difference in numbers down or up when you get faster than 10Mbps download and 3Mbps upload unless you are working with files in the 200MB + range where it can actually shave a second or two off the time. Add to that that WiMax currently has much more 4G coverage, is cheaper, and won't be moving to tiered data EVER according to Sprint, and Verizon definitely has competition. Even Verizon says Sprint has the Number 1 spectrum frequencies on the planet.

I'm not a fan of any of the carriers as they all overstate their coverage areas, and I get free phones and service through work, but if I had to pick one and pay for it around here, I'd go with Sprint and an Evo or Evo3D.

That said, I like the Bolt, and when Verizon rolls out LTE in 3 years maybe they'll gain an advantage or at least a niche. But that's 3 years from now.
